I think my EAGLES have improved in some areas (preferably O and D lines), but they still have major holes in other areas (such as WR and LB). I personally doubt that they have the players right now to make the dramatic rebound we're all hoping for here in Philly. So right now, I guess that 16 would be about right for this team.

i think at this point in time 16 is fair and people would call someone crazy to go too much higher on a legit list.... but i think that come week 8 it might be a more sane claim to say this team can be a playoff contender... i know this nfc east is bulking up... but if jim johnson can get his blitz inc. defense back on track (which the draft and off-season aquistions, namely bunkley and howard, will help with), were dealing with three immobile qb's. i see a lot of sacks for guys like jevon kearse in this division and a lot of forced plays for INT's to the d backs, dawkins, shepherd and sheldon brown... reggie brown should have a breakout year as the number one WR this year... this should be a 10-6 (i'm hoping 11-5) team this year, and i dont think that record puts them at #16 in the long run.

16...fuk ..I'll take that. Defense is the key to the Birds season. Dark horse..something to play for...all that shiit. Its not like we play in the Bears division. The NFC east is the best in football right now. And dont talk to me about their record. If they are 10 and 6....that equals a Bears 14 and 2 ...given the weak schedule and conference of da Bears.

Steve Smith should be listed on the Chicago sex offender registry....the way he raped the Bears

i think the nfc east will have the most competitive divisional play...but right now i wouldnt call any nfc east team "elite"(top five)... so i dunno if it is the best div.

3:45 am and still no number 15 in the power rankings... i can wait until tomorrow to discover who is slightly better than my birds... but im legitimately worried that florio may have been struck by a vehicle that turned in front of his crotchrocket... he probably wasn't wearing a helmet either... athletes need to understand that no matter what they say, they will always be role models... kids and steelers fans are far too impressionable...

The Eagles have the same philosopy as the pat's and a couple of other teams.  they deem a player expendable when the contract demands get too high or they feel the player is getting too old.  Look who long it took them to resign Wesbrook!

Over the past few years, they have cut or failed to sign a number of impact players and have substituted  rookies or unproven players in the positions.  That plan worked for a while, but in some ways I think it leads to a false sense of security, and that is that the Eagles can replace anyone at any time. The team will continue to function as a well oiled machine.

they could be paying the price now for allowing too many players to leave and go to other teams.(TO is not included in this theory).  The Patriots could also find that they have cut or lost one too many player, and the replacement is unsatisfactory at the position.

The difference between playoffs and the Superbowl is a very fine line!!

Number 15 will be Jacksonville.....take that to the bank. Probably the first rankings I've seen with them in the top half of the league in a long time.

I think Jacksonville can be ranked a little higher than #15 to be honest.  They're not great, but they're certainly, in my mind, better than mediocre (esp. on defense).

Oh but they can't be better than mediocre.....their offense isn't exciting and they lack an overhyped superstar. Plus the fact that they are still looked at as an expansion team and play in a small market doesn't help. Now if the Bears go 12-4 with the schedule they have next year, I'm sure they won't be getting national disrespect. I'll accept the fact that Jax may be the second best team in Florida. Behind the Bucs. How the freakin Dolphins will probably be ranked higher than both teams is just insane! Talk about easy schedules, look who they beat in their famous win streak last year then get back at me. Just because a team has pleasant aquamarine and orange uniforms and have a cute widdle Flipper logo on their helmet does not mean they should be overhyped.

But I think they're certainly better than 8-8 though.  Sure, the offense on that team aint exciting, but once again, they have a solid defense that's capable of keeping them in a lot of games.

The Eagles will be back this season...  McNabb is on a mission, he is in great shape, and ready to get rolling...  I’m going to there camp on Tuesday 7/25, and expect to see a physically fit McNabb...  The Eagles success revolves around McNabb and his play...  If he plays well they will be in the mix for the Division title...

Well, doughede, I and a lot of other EAGLES fans desperately hope this is the case.  We appreciate your optimism.  But I'm gonna have to see it before I can believe it.

That is the thing about the Eagles, they will either be in the NFC title game, or drafting in the top 10, and nobody (not even Reid) knows which it will be.

More likely to be in the NFC championship game than the top 10 in the draft order. Just think Panthers from 04-05. Injuries to key players, let their leading WR walk in free agency. BAM right back in the Super Bowl chase. Not too long ago I remember ESPN and SI being all on the Eagles jock, and one injury-riddled season later, they get no props. But of course they can't be on the Eagles jock anymore, that place is reserved for the Fantathhhhtic Dolphins.

I don't know if the Eagles were ever really as good as the 4 consecutive NFC title games would suggest. I will admit that they scared the SH1T out of me in SB39, but McNabb gagged it away.

3rd ring secured.

Th ONLY reason the Eagles were any good in that Super Bowl was TO running loose over Randall Gay, and TO is off to the Big D.

I can sure recall people were CERTAINLY not riding off Carolina after their injury-riddled season back in 2004 like they're riding off the EAGLES now.

The term is "writing off".

I am not trying to be a grammer teacher or anything, but just an FYI for future refrence.

On topic, Carolina had many individual players that you could point to as far as a "rebound" went. Eagles.... not so much.

JetBlackNinja,

Referring to your correction ("riding off" to "writing off"), I tend to do that a lot with such phrases.  Let me give you a couple of examples.

1.  For "supposed to", I used to say "suppost to".

2.  For "might as well", I used to say "minus well".

Must be the way it sounded to me when I've said these phrases.  lol!  :)
