LOL, I felt bad for Florio today. He probably thought he hit the jackpot with the Favre story. It's like the old prank with someone holding a football saying "go long". Florio went deep, was told "keep going" and then nobody threw him the ball.
Yeah but as a rumor mill operator, there is always going to be people that feed you bullsh1t. The question is, how much of the bullsh1t do you take a chance on and print, and how much do you toss in the trash.
My guess is that this information came from what could be considered a reputable source, and was planted for one reason or another.
But the following reasons are not at all out of the realm of posibility.
1.) because maybe Favre is really contemplating retiring considering the new look of his team and wanted to dip a toe in the water to guage reaction?
2.) Someone with a bone to pick (maybe one of the many ESPN guys that Florio rips in two) cooked it up to discredit profootballtalk as a legitimate source for insider info?
3.) Maybe it was a calculated Florio strategic move to cook up some readership. Knowing that noone else would report such a thing without having corroborated it first would allow him to do it under the protected guise of "Hey this is a rumormill and sometimes I'm wrong take it for what it is or leave it...or don't leave it just don't believe that one thing, believe all of the other things".
I believe that this site is at the point where, if Florio was so inclined, could indeed risk looking like a complete buffoon every once in a while and lose very little face and do just that just to drum up some new readership.
That may be just a conspiracy theory, but Florio is a lawyer, and to doubt either his intelligence or ability to craft a contrived, shrewd, and calculated business strategy as described in #3 would likely be a gross underestimate of his abilities. Think about it. It only takes the breaking of a few stories earlier than the mass media news sources to gain back some semblance of credibility with even the most dire skeptics that visit this site every day. And, how many people do you know are going to stop coming to this site because of such a bullcacka story.....He only stands to gain by executing this strategy a few times a year.
I dont know about that. The way Reggie Bush has gone about melding into the NFL fabric... with about as much tact and civility as a faggot at a BoyScout Jamboree, someone is likely to try to make his retirment decision for him nice and early.
Someone is going to take his gold tipped shoe off of him in a game and stick it in his pompous a$$. I'm guessing that his gold tipped shoe will soon be poo tipped.
Normally I don't wish harm upon anyone but Brett Favre, but I hope he blows his fukn knee out on the first play of the first game. I would love to see him broke and sukin coks for beer money in a Lousianna crabhouse dumpster in a few years
Speaking of retirement, did you Bears fans hear about Tommie Harris almost retiring a few weeks ago? It was an interview in one fo the Chicago papers and he was questioning his dedication to the game and now he's made up his mind to work at being "great". Wouldn't THAT have been a shock?
yeah....but more so to his bank account.....dude would have had to cough up signing bonus, he was just questioning his self-drive, before training camp, found his answer and has decided to try to be better than he EVER has.....yeah could have been a bad deal for Bear fans.....sounds like it turned out to be a good one....a little self-examination is good for the soul (NO GoBears....not the type you do...that makes you go blind!)

Thats fukin horrible. Why would you wish injury on anyone? It's just a fukin game man.
very true....wishing an injury on someone is entirely bush league....but what would you call intentionally hurting someone in a game......say a VERY LATE hit on a QB, after writing his and other main players numbers on his hand towell and proclaiming you WILL put them out of the game?....sound familiar? Charles Martin?..... typical packer crap ....do as I say not as I do

You have a real problem with stereotyping. Just because one overzealous DT (who wasn't that good btw) made a dirty play (probably the dirtiest play ever), doesn't mean every single Packer fan wishes injury on everyone else. I just said in my post that it was horrible that someone would wish and injury on an NFL player, just because he plays for a rival team. Why did that require a comeback? You people take this game way to seriously.
I just can't stand Reggie Bush at this point. He's the Elton John of football now. Why does he have to cause all of this fukn ruckus? Why cant he just put some fukn regular shoes on instead of being a "Im just trying to make my own brand" type player. Especially since the kid hasnt done a fukn thing in the NFL yet?
I'm boycotting any and every product he represents until he pound out a 1300+ yard season.
I mean these antics are barely tolerable from proven guys such as TO, let alone some green punk fuk that has more or less been fed from the silver spoon for 4 fukn years. Bush so far has been everything that is bad about High Paid Rookies.
Slot these motherfukers and make them earn their keep before they break a teams bank and steal money out of veteran players pockets, and then have the audacity to demand a number that you cant have...only to be rebuked, then parade around in his gay a$$ gold cletes and make a fukn scene. Just shut the fuk up and try to play football first jack.
Karma Shmarma. I don't believe in that crap. A Drunken dancing face plant has nothing to do with Karma, its just complete fukn stupidity at its finest. Don't mistake the two.
If the videographer got this footage...which i suspect that he does, you all will see exactly what i mean.

No, blows out a knee wouldn't be good enough for me. I think a neck injury would be a better fit for that attention starved douchbag.
Nah, actually that would suck. I would have to deal with Favre get well interviews cluttering up my TV for the next 45 years, looking at his bi*ch a$$ in a hospital bed.
I like the sounds of the crabhouse dumpster better.
