1. he is a rookie and after the problems last year (Bobby Wade 7 return fumbles/4 lost) he is concentrating on catching the ball...better to secure it with no return, then to muff it....on those punts he went to the ground, they were high short punts with the pressure coming...played it safe...that was in the first game....last night he went to the ground because one of his own players ran into him.....he still kept his eye on the ball and still made the catch despite being knocked down by his own guy
2. did he drop any?....NO... and in fact when a punt hit another player he covered the ball like an old pro, didn't try to scoop it up and run, just made sure he covered it...he's fielded 6 punts...FC 3 of them....hit the second he fielded one...didn't drop it....and the other 2....hmmmm....1 for 44 yds....and one for 30 something.....he was one move away from taking both of them to the house.....keep laughing...I will....all the way to the bank.
How did that Griese TD get set up.....oh yeah...courtesy of Devin Hester.....Nice TD for Davis on the kick return also......as I've said earlier.....the Bears special teams will take some of the heat off of the Offense.....sure as hell looked like they did last night

blah blah blah blah. I told you he was shakey back there and you brushed it off, saying how no scouts talked about so how could it be true. Nobody is doubting what he can do when he has the ball. But damn he looks like he's playing on an ice rink.
Last night his own player hit him as the ball was coming down, cut off his vision and he still caught the ball. While I may be wrong, i'm getting the impression you have never returned punts before, and don't realize the finer points of a returner.....the only ones who looked like they were playing on an ice rink was the guys trying to tackle him.
I can't help that all 3 major scouting reports I read kept saying the same thing....great returner....doesn't make mistakes....great hands on returns and is quick as hell and greasy as snot....while it may not match what you say, but bottom line...I highly doubt if you get paid for YOUR scouting reports......the others did. 3 scouts said the same thing....never saw a mistake in the tape they watched.
if you assuming that I think a rookie PR is going to play mistake free ball all year long in the NFL, you're way off base....he'll muff one or two I'm sure...rain..snow...moving before he has the ball in his hands...the sun...christ, there is a thousand reasons he can make a mistake. But so do the veterans occasionally.
The fact that he will produce this year, and get better in the future is the thing to keep in mind, he's a rookie and I think he will do a fine job this year (keep in mind last year was a freakin nightmare for Bears special teams.....optimism is to be expected)
now I will give you this....2 of the scouts questioned his hands....but both of them said as a WR only, thats when they talked about his mistake free return games.
It is 2 entirely different mind sets.....running a pattern, moving the DB into a spot so you can make the catch...making your cut and catching the ball. Versus waiting in one place until the ball comes to you, concentrating on nothing but catching the ball, and then making your move and running the field. I was a good return guy in high school (uh oh...Al Bundy time) but I was pretty average as a reciever....2 different skill sets, for example who of the great returners of all times were also great WRs (recent years only...don't go digging up some 1948 player)
First of all you don't stand in one place, you're feet are constantly moving. That's why proper footwork is imperative and I don't think he has it. And you certainly don't stand in one place fielding punts in Chicago, that wind is crazy.
And you don't just concentrate on catching the ball. There's alot of information that has to be processed in a short period of time. Fair catch or not? Let it go into the endzone or not? Are my blockers set up? All this while super athletes are running full speed to take your head off and the ball is swirling in the wind.
This aint the NCAA with bum *** punters with low hang time and slow coverage units.
yes you are constantly adjusting to the ball, but you don't start running without it...a common mistake...aint much desicion to make on whether to fair catch it or let it go, it depends on what yard line your standing on...and them oncoming guys are always there...no matter the talent level....block them out and catch the ball, run to open light.....maybe it isn't that way for everyone but it was for me...I had far more sucess (such as it was) at fielding punts...than I ever had catching the pass...
neither is the division Miami plays in...my biggest worry is reaction to cold weather, but we'll find that out in a couple of months
The guy got run over twice by sh1thole dildo legged coverage twice and salvaged every play. Only time will tell what type of punt returner he will be. So take your negative ying yang and wipe your a$$ with it.
Think about what you are actually saying before you make yourself look like a bigger fukn idiot you coin bag.
Yeah...haha guhilk guhilkl....he ALMOST fuked up every punt HAHA. So hes gonna suck HAHAHA ALmost. guhilk guhilk guhillllllllllk
Congratulations Galason, you've proven you cannot particpate in a decent football debate. I guess if someone says something bad about the Bears you have to take it to a personal level, which I guess is all you CAN do when you don't have the insight to talk about the finer points of punt returning. And judging from your story about being drunk (my guess is that you're in that state quite often) that picture resembles you alot more than it does me.
The Truth wrote: I told you Hester would struggle to field punts. You see him fall down? Yea I know he had a nice return later, but he's gonna muff some.
..and your point is? Seems like Iowa answered it alright. The guy is a rookie. He will make mistakes. But his overall upside appears to be rather high.
Is he the next Sayers? No. But considering what the Bears have had back there, he's a considerable upgrade.
Let's see what happens when the real games start...
3 or 4 years back they had a fullback fielding the punts....Uncle Dicks excuse...."well he has very sure hands"...(and very slow feet) then he coughed up 3 out of 4 against New Orleans I think.....shot that theory to hell....people don't understand just how bad it has been...having a kid who could help the Offense out instead of burying it inside the 15 all the time...I think he's going to break a couple...the Bears have a good scheme and he has the skills to utilize it
same here...and points for shutouts ect....I think they will do very well...if you look at the last 3 years they average 5 TDs a year...the trend is your friend
