why would the nflpa want to protect guys that give the rest of the players a bad name? you can't cut a guy for disciplary reasons? bullturd! ko-ro should be cut yesterday. key, t.o., porter, lelie, all peices of shiiite. if a team doesn't want a guy b/c of character issues they should have the right to say c-ya. just sayin'...
I agree...but what would constitute a character issue....if a veteran player calls out his teammates for sucking he's being a leader....same guy calls out the coaching staff for sucking...he's a problem. Not that I am a fan of that kind of thing, but c'mon now....there have been some pretty bad coaching staffs in the NFL...but where is the line drawn? would it be a character issue if the same vet called out ownership for drafting and grabbing thru free agency a bunch of turds, there by ruining the team chemistry?....see T.O........if the T.O. situation goes totally south (as it seems to be heading) and the Boys go 6-10....if Bledsoe called out Ownership for ruining the team chemistry?....would it constitute enough to drop a guy?...shouldn't get punished for telling the truth, but they will be, if you stick a character issue clause in there

In TO's case you have a point, but in K. Robinson's case you don't. Arrests and such should be clear qualifiers. I don't think they should have a right to cut a player for "attitude" as that would casue more issues than it solved.
agreed...but not on arrests...convictions yes.....but many an innocent man has been arrested...a few even convicted...but I could live with the ability to toss someone convicted of a major crime. But that is the next level...what constitutes a criminal charge?....ANY misdemeanors....just certain ones? do you break it down to what level of misdemeanor it is...or just take felonies.....do you judge them on what they did....or what they pleaded to?...it is a tough situation. I agree a team should be able to cut a total turd, but who decides who's a turd
you guys make good points, it is the start of a slippery slope. but my point is this; if we are to embrace this free- market system we live in, shouldn't an owner have the right to choose who he pays millions of dollars to? i don't want to sound like a union buster but c'mon!
an owner does get to choose who he pays millions for....it's called the draft and free agency. If I'm an owner and I'm considering giving someone millions of $...I have thier azzes investigated, if you don't you're an idiot. The time to decide if a guy is a turd is BEFORE you hand them the cash. They investigate guys up and down before the draft, yet turn around and draft turds anyway, thinking they can control them. It is a case of the owners thinking they have big enough balls to control the situation....until thier brains become the size of thier wallets this stuff will continue....see Jerry Jones
the funny thing about a contract is it is binding to BOTH parties that sign it. Once signed you're stuck, they need to do thier homework on people. Players sign a contract and they are stuck with it, they can hold out, but recent court rulings (like Ricky Williams) has made it tougher. But the owners should get to have a turd clause they can use to get rid of players they don't want anymore?
You would have to have the union decide if a guy had crossed the turd line in order to keep it fair, and the less they are involved with the game of football the better.
There is no such thing as a guaranteed contract in Football. Try some of the sh1t coaches get away with now in the NB or MLB and see where that gets you.
There are also scouting departments, and talent evals., and a million other oppertunities to research your players before signing or drafting them, if you missed it maybe you should have to live with the "fall out".
