this media hype that daunte looks fab--everythings' great--right!!have you seen his apperances for the fins? his passing is lackluster--case in point, the carolina game and for that matter the bucs game--5 to 7 yard throws--some successful, some not--midrange-- underthrown, wide right or left, overthrown, nothing long--taking to long to make desicions--not showing much with scrambling-THAT'S HALF HIS GAME--his ball faking remains high school--hey, it doesn't matter if you go 14 for 19 the other night-it was very insignifacant-ball still gets knocked out of him like butter--just another ESPNer build up--i'm on record,he's not great anymore, and PFT.COM--terry bowden show 4-7est will being hearing from me this coming week on the matter--i challenge little fat man to lunch on this one!!! sure, if your a regular working stiff and your now back at work following this surgery, you'd be doing great--but were talking about a frontline nfl qb, with a team that's supposedly a real contender--truthfully,harrington actually looks more ready to play!!!ricky bobby out--yeah!!!
I will give the Vikings the nod on one of the things they did...I think Culpepper is a better QB...that said, when they made the switch from a mobile lg QB to a statue, they improved the line so he should be able to get the ball away...Culpepper allowed them a sub-par line with his mobility
yeah...I seen the same thing, just giving the team props..while it did switch down to a less mobile QB, they improved the line to give him the time do his thing.....immobile QB + Bad O-line = IR
know that's what i'm sayin, daunte not moving--running like when mossy and carter were there in minn.-- the great hands and speed-- the fins aren't built w/ that talent of rec. corp. people have to remember his former cast that he broke in with, robert smith at tailback, etc. once again espn, what a huge over-blown hype machine--daunte this daunte that--it's one game but hey, might as well just pack it in now cause it ain't happenin, not in a good minute--ricky bobby's boys are funny
Maybe he can regain what he once had in Minnisota. Now he looks like he's on qualudes. I don't know how to describe it.....it just looks as if he's lost his vitality.

Chris Carter and Randy Moss made Culpepper look good for the beginning of his career in Minny, that and his size and mobility...take away two Hall of Fame recievers, and his mobility and he is comparable to Mike Tomzack...I look forward to seeing Joey Harrington jumpstart his career in Miami, the poor bastard had no chance beginning his career in Detwah, but its not like Miami gambled on Culpepper, they got him for a 2nd rd. draft pick...
that's right until the thinking of not a gamble-- at a 10-12mill signing/roster bonus he's a big gamble-- one thing i've always noticed on the vikings, their personel people have a nac for unloading players when the time is right-- they go on the present rather than the past. ps.-- i don't think dc could run 50ft. if his life depended on it--
All that being said- as a Vikes fan I say...Good luck Miami!!! DC is fantasy stud but folds under pressure as a QB. I wish him well. He can carry your team, or sink it if he gets rattled. I think Saben wil be good for him.
I think Miami has invested too much in Daunte Fumblepepper. He threw alot of picks and fumbled alot of balls on the field in Minnehota. He can move sure, but as JetBlack said, he's not going to last long in the AFC east with the likes of Vilma and Seymour chasing him down.
I think there are some character issues also. Most of his career he didn't get in any trouble until the love boat fiasco. It's not like the party scene in Miami is better than in Minny...probably worse. Who knows, he might snap out of it. Hopefully he does.
Culpepper started off the year coming back from a knee injury, and hadn't played in and up tempo game in over a year....all this vs one of the tougher ds to pass against. They swarm, and confuse.....
All things considered he did ok. First off, how many more passes/ TD passes do you think Chris Chambers is going to drop?...Yeah I thought so, not many more. His accuracy was poor, but his surrounding cast is much better down in Miami....Especially with his coaching and play calling. Though I don't know if Daunte will post 04 like numbers, he surely will be a lot better than some of you are saying.
Some of the comments on this board are wishful thinking...at best.
And hey Timmy...that "Hype Machine" that you are speaking of won 9 games last year with 2 broke-dik backup qbs chukin the hog in frerotte and rosenfels....in a week division yes, but nonetheless.
culpepper is overrated because he is a fantasy stud. Im one of those people that had him as a top five qb this year because of fantasy football. yes big time fumbler but health all year numbers will be there.

Chambers won't have to drop the ball, unless you include Culpepper bouncing the ball off his shoes as a drop.
Culpepper has never been a lick of good without Randy Moss, and last time I checked Moss does not play for Miami.
And PLEASE don't be the idiot to quote the Dolphins win record.
The Pats threw the last game of the season to them, if you can watch it again, do. We lost on purpose (dropkick, rookie QB that got chewed for throwing 2 TDs).
The rest of those teams SUCKED worse than Miami. There "record" last year was a lie.
Miami will continue to improve. Culpepper's inadequacies will be kept in check with smarter game management....which includes coaching and play calling.
Mark my wordsMiami, led by Culpepper will do well this year.
hey, how you doing mr. go bears-- you and many others on this board are great w/ stuff you've got to say on different thoughts about pro ball. now i say that because when i even go to my own teams' board (vikings) i have admitt they are mainly a bunch of weiner wusses. many even cry about the way the vikes won over skins-- who cares-- we won on the level--on the road in front of a huge audieance-- i couldn't ask for more. i originally started this culpepper thread under anonymous and have to say your thoughts on miami are wishful thinking--why?-- well, daunte is capable of good stuff at times but isn't mentally strong game in and game out, second-- now understand i'm a fl. resident-- i either watched or attended nearly all his college games-- seen the majority of his pro days-- don't buy his hype, he's now physically limited-- his mobility isn't near what it was and his cast isn't either. def. will hold that team together-- but the preseason and first game doesn't lie--unless their schedule is somewhat soft enough-- it was a large gamble on him and his history and now medical issues will be trouble. long range-- funny as it sounds-- harrington is where they should be looking--but, money and greed and power won't allow it.
Look at it like this, its Culpeppers job to lose. They invested (wisely) a second round pick in him. They got harrington for tiddlywinks. As I am writing this he just through a pick.
and what i'm taking issue with you is for starters the fins investment--put aside the draft pick for a moment-- they UNWISELY threw him 10-12 mill upfront-- NOT WISE-- and doesn't include what's due in the coming yrs. of the rest of his deal-- that's a major implications against the team's cap. secondly, he showed again today why the vikes had no problem dealing-- minn. was not going to give a huge raise to a player that had that many question marks-- now the fins next 4 games don't look all that difficult-- and for those who didn't see the bills-miami game and just saw cul's stats-- severly misleading is a understatment, our local commentators were screaming for harrington-- which would be WISE move.
Culpepper has been bad he last two years. Hes doing a great job proving his last season in Minn wasnt a fluke. It isnt his talent thats the problem, its his tiny hands, and his horrendous decision making. He doesnt really think through and his vision has never been that great. Also, hes lost alot of weight, making him more sackable. Im glad, thats for sure
Yeah Culpepper looked like pure CRAP today...against an inferior opponent AT HOME! I'm beginning to change my mind about this team; the Pats are still the team to beat in the AFC East.
He stares down his receivers, (always has) he holds the ball too long (always has). If you give him enouh time, he could be hurt the other team. I don't know if that is still the case. I sure don't miss the fumbles!!!!!
I like that it appears we are going back to the football I grew up with. Knocj you d___ in the dirt defense and smart no nonsense offense, yeah i loved the DC to Moss hookup, who didn't? But watching the D Line is FUN again!

I will shut up for now.
+1.
I tried to tell you. I have been trying to tell many people. Go back through this board and see how many people picked Miami to win the AFC East. Because "they won 6 games to end the season". Stupid.
Miami is a joke, they will be lucky to win 8 games this year, the Pats are going to run away with the AFC East unless Buffalo is for real. Even if, they need a decent QB before they can threaten. Losman is not the guy.
I started a similar email with Mr. Florio this morning, yet to hear back from him...
So do you think the media know realizes what every fan of the NFL already knows about the Miami Dolphins? Signing the 2nd worst QB in the league behind Aaron Brooks - Daunte Culpepper - made their team worse? Even my wife who's a very casual fan (by casual I mean she only watches highlights on the local news - we live in Boston) says to me yesterday on multiple occasions - "what the f*ck was he thinking?"
I don't know how anyone in their right mind could honestly sit there and say straight-faced that Culpepper was going to the player who put them over the top and into the Super Bowl. That is the single worst preseason predication I have seen this decade.
pepper put together one of the best QB seasons in NFL history in 2004.
You get a QB who plays half his games indoors, has a fast & tall WR who's at the top of the game, and you can throw a decent deep ball - sounds like a picture perfect game plan for a game of Madden.
You should know by now that 1yr does not make a player great. See Steve Beuerlein circa 1999.
1999 Beuerlein 4436yrs, 36 TD's, 15 INT's, 60%
2004 Culpepper 4717yrds, 39 TD's, 11 INT's, 69%
Those numbers aren't too far off - don't ever recall anyone in the media giving Stevey the reach-around the same why they have with Daunte.
it's all about karma boys. pep is a tier 1 bitch. he could easily be on the all-turd team. we just don't hear about half the shiiite he pulls. he's gettin and gotten what he deserves. i'm just sorry dolphin fans have to deal w/ it. but, better them than us.
Many people will laugh at this, but I think Joey harrington can have success in Miami. I always liked the guy and thought he was just a good qb in a ****ty situation, kinda like David Carr. If Sausage fingers keeps this up, I suspect they will have him fake an injury and save face while give Harrington a shot.
