W.I.P. is citing Comcast SportsNet as their source for the news that the Eagles have sent linebacker Mark Simoneau and a draft pick (i THOUGHT they said "second round", but now they're saying "future undisclosed") to the Saints for Donté Stallworth.
That Reid would go for Stalllworth is a bit surprising, because he likes "high motor" guys with character and Stallworth has been knocked occasionally for dogging it and also has occasionally displayed "turd-like" tendencies (not a huge follower of the Saints, so i could be a bit off on this).
as a saint fan, my feeling on this trade is indifference.
we have some good young receivers, and it just seemed like a matter of time anyway before donte was shipped out. the new coach didn't like him. oh well.
i feel better that we have some extra draft picks for next year.

I had heard that Donté was in danger of getting edged out by a rook.
Who is it?
already done, Marques Colston! but we have a roster full of "glue hands" receivers.. furthermore, Lance Moore, Mike Hass, Jamal Jones... all have made huge impressions thus far.
edit: Donte's drops are what got him shipped out. he's got a world of talent, but his hands are sometimes suspect.
tell your hometown journalist, mr. Paul Domowitch, that he shouldn't be tooting the "stupid" horn just yet... just wait until you decide to sign Donte long term before you hail him as the next T.O. (obvious jab there)
it's funny to me, when Donte was in N.O., NOBODY ever talked him up like he was the "best thing since sliced bread" but now that he's in a philly uniform, and never taken a snap in a real game, he's an automatic pro bowler in their minds. laugh out loud.
Donte is potential, he's not proven. any idiot with any knowledge about the situation would tell you that.
contrary to what you say, expectations have been high for Stallworth since he was drafted. He was a talent in college, and his pedigree is obvious.
Iggs fans are pleased that their team went out and got a young WR who is coming off his best year.
We're aware of his past. We're aware of the dropped balls. Don't equate what Domo says with what the rest of us think. I don't think I've heard anybody up here say that he's an upgrade from, or even equal to T.O.. Nobody's calling him an automatic pro-bowler either.
and as for whether or not he's proven, last year's 70 balls is above average for the league (and for more yards than Deion Branch, btw).
If he continues to string seasons like that together, he'll be "proven".
At any rate, he's a HUGE upgrade from what we had after we lost T.O..
like i was sayin to you at the time of trade, i loved watching him run and catch at UT, yet one thing is he does pull up periodically w/ hamstrings both in college and w/ saints. by the way user name does'nt sound bitter, it just is what it is, Worth just didn't always show up w/ saints and it just looked as though he was soft, coach H. didn't like him, that's for sure.
