The Pats picked up WR Doug Gabriel in a trade with Oakland for a 5th round draft pick.
This would appear to be a steal by the Pats just at face value. But considering the glaring need they have WR and the precarious situation with Deion Branch, it seems all that more a great move.
Ya, this is a no lose for the Pats. They obviously need WR help, Gabriel is big and fast, and it only cost them a 5th rounder, so no big deal if he doesn't pan out. I have to wonder what the hell the Raiders are thinking. You've got ticking time bomb Moss, Porter, who wants to be traded, and Ronald Curry, who has blown out the same Achilles' tendon two years in a row. Gabriel was really the only WR they had who didn't have any issues.....so you trade him to a team desperate for WR help for a measley 5th round pick? Whatever....Al Davis strikes again. First Jeff George, now this. Time to give up the ghost Al; you've completely lost it.

I've always liked Gabriel. I've said for a long time that he is a very under-rated WR. I hope he gets the chance to prove me right this year. Oakland was pretty dumb to let him go, especially with the Porter situation.

I hope he gets the chance to prove you right as well. We really need the help. Brach is off the deep end now.
