Teams who are a lock NOT to make the Super Bowl

Hi folks,

I'd like start a list of teams who you think are a lock to NOT get to the Super Bowl.  Here's who I have thus far:

NFC:  New Orleans, Green Bay, Detroit, Minnesota, San Francisco, St. Louis

AFC:  Oakland, Cleveland, Buffalo, NY Jets, Tennessee, Houston

For those of you who'd like to contribute to this list, please feel free to chime in.

The 1999 Rams and 2001 Patriots proved that you shouldn't count out any team before the season.

lol!!! This was a topic that was addressed on our local sports radio station today! Howard Eskin was poking fun at the "Stillers" because they lost Big Ben, saying that this year, they would fall into the category of teams like the Saints and the Texans, which he said were teams that were a lock not to go to the Super Bowl!

Same line of thinking as ...

"Rams just lost Trent Green, they're a lock to not go to the Super Bowl."

or..

"Patriots just lost Drew Bledsoe, they're a lock to not go to the Super Bowl."

I'm not saying Charlie Batch or Brian St Pierre are the next Kurt Warner or Tom Brady. But to eliminate teams before week 1 is nothing short of idiotic. (I'm not calling you an idiot Vanni, you're just a misguided Panthers fan).

Hell, any Panthers should realize that going from 1-15 to the Super Bowl is a short trip indeed.

As a matter of fact, I am NOT a Panthers fan. I am an EAGLES fan! I just think the Panthers are an awfully good football team that has the potential to be a Super Bowl team this year. The list I made are just teams that I don't expect to be any good this year. But again, WHO KNOWS, because this IS the NFL.

And, by the way, Jet Black, that was in a 2 year span as well!!!

I'm not certain you're getting the question. The poster is asking to identify the WORST teams who are certain NOT to make it to the Superbowl. I'm not trying to be a smartazz but your response seem to indicate you misunderstood. I apologize if I have misinterpreted your comments.

and i'm stating, rather simply and bluntly, that EVERY TEAM HAS A CHANCE, obviously..  this isn't college football where all the big boosters pay for championships.   there is no "lock" in pro football, injuries play too big a role in the season.  so smoke on that.  but since you wanna play the negativity game, here ya go:

teams that are NOT a LOCK to make the super bowl.

SEATTLE, PITTSBURGH, DALLAS, CINCINNATI, HOUSTON, NEW ORLEANS, TAMPA BAY, GREEN BAY, DETROIT, NY JETS, NY GIANTS, SAN FRAN, SAN DIEGO, ARIZONA, CLEVELAND, CHICAGO, MINNESOTA, DENVER, MIAMI, NEW ENGLAND, ATLANTA, CAROLINA, PHILLY, WASHINGTON, TENNESSEE, INDIANAPOLIS, BUFFALO, BALTIMORE, JACKSONVILLE, KANSAS CITY, OAKLAND, ST. LOUIS.

better?

edited for clarity.

well said. If you flip it, any of my fellow Bucs fans can tell you that going from to the Super Bowl to a 7-9 and then a 5-11 record is also a very short trip. Just alot more painful.

Panthers didn't go from 1-15 to Super Bowl in 1 year.

2001: 1-15
2002: 7-9
2003: 11-5
