eagles suck

whats the deal with this team sitting pretty on the lead against a dangerous team like the giants? i understand u want to run the clock down etc, but when the run isnt working somethings gotta give. this is an agressive team all around. the pass establishes drives and then we're successful on the run, and in turn, more succesful on PA. The giants weakness is n the secondary anyway THROW IT!If your going to make the agressive call to go for it on 4th down in the 4th quarter when youre up 10 points, then you better be calling agressive plays as well. Worst of all was the defense. this d doesnt understand the meaning of bend but dont break... they are speedy and agressive, thats why there good...we should have kept coming at eli over and over instead of playing it safe... im disgusted...

Don't get too upset. Eli had one of those defining moments for a QB where he grew up over the course of the game. Nothing in Eli's pro history says he was gonna be able to pull off a comeback like that and the Iggles played as if he would crumble at some point, which has been his M.O.  It's only one game and the season's still young.

That looks like it's starting to become the EAGLES weakness as well!

the birds' pass rush won't suffer as much without the freak as you'd think. he was ineffective last year, when the interior of the line was depleted. and this year, with a replenished interior, trent cole and juqua thomas have been just as effective, if not more effective, than the freak. darren howard showed up on so much preseason film, that he was taking more double teams than kearse, and still found himself behind the line of scrimmage quite a bit in the first two games. they retained ten guys on their roster to play d-line this year just in case something like this happened.

the birds REAL problem is that doing so created the potential for a roster imbalance at other positions. that has left them really thin at CB. they're currently microwaving a practice squadder cut from the vikings to play back there. lito sheperd and now rod hood are gone. THAT's a problem.

and by the way, hark: the birds don't 'suck'. that game hurt real bad, but starting a thread with that title after a game 2 loss where we saw ALOT of good things from a team that was 6 and 10 last year is typical philly fan whining. i've lived here all my life. i can spot you guys a mile away.

Surprisingly, as I have said before, I think the EAGLES' secondary, which was once the strength of their defense, has now turned into a significant weakness.  They were getting burned early in the game against the JV Texans (before they got their pass rush going) and they obviously got burned in their shocking loss against the Giants this past weekend as well.  That's why it's absolutely CRITICAL that our DL do it's job in being able to get to the QB.

i know they don't suck... and yes, i was being a typical philly fan whining... when the eagles win it makes my week... if they have a great game, im hardcore about it... i talk about how great they looked and everything... it would be hypocritical if i wasnt just as hardcore about losing... im past the game now... but as a philly fan, (who by the way has also lived in this city his whole life), i'm emotionally invested in every single game, i pour my heart into it... if they were clearly just outskilled and beaten i would be depressed but okay about the loss... unfortunately however there was a lot to be angry about with that game... and i was venting... of course the eagles dont suck, and they have a whole season ahead of them, but when i wrote that post i was still in the "throwing sh*t at the tv mode"... it was a pitiful game, and one that showed how easily this team can tend to rest on their laurels... im sure you can respect where im coming from...

anyway about kearse. it will certainly hurt the eagles not having him there, but not as much as it would have in years past. this defensive line has been bolstered recently... i beleive johnson still plans to use the wave 1, wave 2, system, but with cole on the starting d end where kearse was and jerome mcdougle filling in for cole on wave 2. (maybe we'll finally see something from this guy...) its certainly a downgrade overall, but were one of the deepest teams in the league as far as the d line is concerned...

now its time to put myself in the players shoes (saturn you always love this part). "i feel bad for..." the freak. he is the biggest victim out of this. the entire offseason ive read articles about a mature jevon kearse, who's settling down and has opened his eyes to the fact that he's not getting any younger... according to numerous sources he became a freak of training this offseason, moreso than ever before, and he told us many times that this year was going to be his comeback year.... after all... he was a great player with the supposed potential to be an amazing player(from what we saw of his early career). but since then he hadn't really shown that awe inspiring, FREAKishly good talent... these past two games it certainly seemed like he was ready to make good on that promise to return to that type of play... i mean, with 3.5 sacks in two games... thats half the amount he had all last year!!! (and the year before that). he forced what should have been a pivital fumble against the giants to end the game, but unfortunately the rest of teh line wasnt on top of it... you can look at trent coles numbers, who is a still terrific player and say, well with 4 sacks, this guys doing better than jevon, but if you watch the games, kearse these past two games was a clear leader on defense who was producing without making rookie mistakes and taking foolish penalties (i.e. trent cole). nevertheless, cole will get double digit sacks this year and the eagles dont need to worry about this position as much as others... but as a fan, i truly believe kearse was putting himself back on the map this year, and now with the surgery, he may lose a lot of speed, and hes older so it will take a lot of recovery time and even more time to get back in game shape... he could never get the chance to become what he was again... he's a great guy(ive met him many times) and a role model on this team, and its just a little disheartening to see a great athelete go down like that regardless of the team ramifications...

hark:

- i DEFINITELY understand where you were coming from after the loss. losses like that don't get any easier to take as the years go by. i said to the people i was watching with: "this is where the bitterness of the philly fan comes from...losses like THIS." we all agreed. it would've been so much easier to take if they had just gotten their a$$es whupped, or had lost by the same score, but had battled the whole way. what happened last sunday, however, was pathetic.

-and dude, feeling bad for kearse is totally acceptable. i'd never give you a hassle about that the way i hassled you for feeling bad for pinky. unlike pinky, kearse is a guy whose heart is evident on every play, whether he got to the QB or not. and unlike pinky, kearse is clearly IN LOVE with playing football. it's always a sad day when we learn we won't get to watch a warrior like that every sunday...

the biggest crime is that his injury occurred in an overtime that should've never happened.

the only thing that will wipe the bitter taste of last sunday out will be solid wins against the 9ers (not as easy as people think), Packers, and then.....them cowboys. oh...and some revenge in the meadowlands.

i smell a disillusioned eagles fan...

last year is last year he was hurt. darren howard's been great for us so far.

oh, and you can have matt ware. he still smells like toast from the way he played in preseason games this year and last.

jfran, put your money where your mouth is: if you really think the birds will beat the iggs by 14, then give me the eagles plus 14 points on sunday.

Who knows which 49'er s team will show up this weekend? the one headed by a rookie, surrounded by rookies and no names. Or the one that has been showing up. A ball moving balanced offense....

I like the eagles, but the 49ers kinda scare me now. especially at home.

jfran, yuou got some big nuts being a freakin charger fan and proclaiming a trip to the superbowl. When you had Fouts, Joiner and Winslow you couldnt get there, what makes you think you will now? Merriman and LT? Phillip Rivers in the Superbowl? Yea if he buys a ticket...all you have to be excited about is those uniforms, other than that your an also ran in the AFC.

THEY HAVE A BETTER CHANCE THEN THE EAGLES THE CHARGERS HAVE THE EASIEST SCHEDULE IN FOOTBALL LIKE THE YEAR THE EAGLES WENT TO THE SUPER BOWL 16-0 BABY

Jfran, let's go over this one more time:

you said 49ers 31, eagles 17. if you think that's what the score will be, then you must be willing to lay a bet based on your prediction: give me the eagles plus 14 points.

any amount of money you want.

there's nothing unfriendly in the offer. it's just a chance for you to win some money based on your confidence in how the game will play out.

also, could you possibly unstick the "caps lock" button on your computer? using all caps doesn't make your posts look any more intelligent than they already are.

your friend, saturn11
