Seriously though, I was actually worried during the game. The Bears have not been able to run the ball and they can't continue to depend on Grossman to win the game for them. Forty one passing attempts is ridiculous for a QB who is pretty much in his first starting year.
PS - The officiating sucked on both sides of the ball, that was terrible.
I agree about the Bears leaning too much on passing. Da Bears have got to get their running game going (only 51 total rushing yards). With their depth, Bears should be running by committee whenever possible.
Disappointing to see Rex make some bad choices (2 INTs) when rushed. However, he has the talent and concentration to keep them in the game (e.g., 24-yard TD to Davis). Now that he is healthy, he is finally showing that same leadership he demonstrated down in Gainesville.
Officiating was horrible. Both team suffered.
Final thought: The Metrodome has to be one of the worse stadiums in the NFL!
the game was played on the vikings' terms and no excuses but we had our opportunities to win, can't forsee a bad exchange. the purple did outplay the bears and look forward to the 2nd meeting between the two. i'm not down about this game at all, i caught the bears postgame on comcast sports and dent , azumah, and boys talked as though they are in ah of minnesota and staff, that told me all i need to know. lookin forward to week 4 vs. buffalo.
Vikes fans should not be down too much about this game. That they played as tough as they did gives more weight and legitimacy to their 2 wins, and now the Bears know that this division ain't gonna be won without a fight from minny.

R U kidding me???? Has anyone else watched the Vikings in the last three years?????I todays loved the game!!! Yeah yeah my team lost. That Sucks. But I never had any illisionsabout a perfect season...not this year!
Miami bear - Go Bear your team EARNED that victory. And My team made them earn it!!!
WOOHOOO!!!
1 packer - The bears emasculated your team they eeked out win over mine. and today, you beat, the lions. And your excited. and talking smack. SUCKS TO BE YOU!!!!!
Sounds like the Viking fans enjoyed the game more than us Bears fans, frightened was more of what I was feeling! I was having flashbacks of 2004 versus the Lions where Grossman drove us down the field and threw a pick in the endzone. I love the guy but he is going to make me grow grey hair with his roller coaster game style.
was it a poor choice for Grossman to throw that pick?....you bet your azz it was. But before you laugh about the Poise of Grossman under pressure...you best go back and watch that last drive....looked pretty damn poised to me, after putting them in a hole.
I picked the Vikes for the division last year due to the personel changes (I was one of the few who liked the Moss trade, pitch a turd, get a LB and an early pick, looks to me like I was dead right....hows Moss doing now?) it took a while for them to gel. They looked good yesterday and are coming along, but they didn't outplay the Bears or they would have won.
You could move the ball 20 to 20, but the only TD you got was the one Grossman gave you. The Bears D was missing tackle after tackle (something I wouldn't count on) and we were playing in the artificially loud Rollerdome, but I doubt if it will be as close of a game as it was yesterday. Great game to watch....love those nail-biters.
i read what you had to say lost in iowa and just wanted to add this: i watched the game at a sports bar. fans of assorted teams peeled off their games to watch the bears-vikings. to a man, everyone felt as though the vikings are better prepared and outplayed the opponent. the bears own post game crew felt the same, richard dent didn't like it and said the bears now have more questions than anwsers. look, minnesota blew the game, no doubt, if your up and have the ball w/ just over 3 min. and your a ball control team, more times than not your going to win-- this viking team has made more bold moves than any team i can remember and we have imposed style of play on all opponents, so we have areas that need shoring up yet, but at the same time we're not overmatched by anyone.
i'm a die hard Purple fan, but while i agree we may have outplayed the bears for PART of the game, grossman led them in the 4th when it mattered. they looked solid doing it. first time since i had kids that i was bummed/pissed after the loss. with tice we knew we'd lose a bunch. we're back to nfc north football. it was awesome to see some solid def on our part, but they're not there yet, they still gave up some. by mideason this purple def(and hopefully the off) will be damn good. playing the bears well was a good indicator of where we're at, they are the best in the nfc, period.

Actually THREE dropped interceptions
But yes it was good game...I am actually looking forward to facing dem dears again Dec 3. Yesterday was an excellent measuring stick for the Vikes. We aint there yet, but are for DANG sure on our way. Our defense is sure going to keep a few OCs up at night!
I agree...the Vikings did look better prepared, they came to play Sunday...no doubt. The Bears were unprepared for the blitzes the Vikings were using early in the game. The Vikings had every intent on coming out and running behind Hutchinson and McKinnie, and were doing a good job of it. The Bears were missing tackles and seemed somewhat surprised that the Vikings would do exactly what they should have done. It seemed the Vikings were waiting for the Bears to blitz so Johnson could hit them on it...and it worked. Then it was the second half.
The Bears front 4 decided to get the job done, started applying constant pressure. It took the offensive line a bit longer to adjust to what the Vikings were doing, but they did and the pressure was no longer there. Niether team was dominate yesterday, thus the close score.
While i won't try to argue the Bears were dominate, I damn sure can that the Vikings weren't.
#1. Grossman handed them 10 points...on a platter. let me get this right...only putting 6 points of your own is dominate? Only 2 drives of thier own ended up in scoring 2 FGs
#2. Johnson 194 yards passing.....Taylor had 74 yards on 20 carries (1 for 24 yards) not dominating numbers by any stretch.
#3. while the D did cause some confusion...1 sack ....19 points allowed, but allowed Chicago to score on 5 different drives, including the final and game winning drive.
Call it a hell of a game...a real nail biter...but the bears were dominated?...I don't think so. The bears tried fairly hard to lose that game, and still won it on the road...the sign of a team with some character.
speaking of injuries, one thing to commend the purples defense on is the way they have played with 4 starters out for the year. tank williams, erasmus james, chad greenway, and devonte edwards(nickleback).
The defense is going to be good once everyone gets healthy, they do a good job without them, but that will be next year until we find out. They played better for a little over a half, but not the part that counted, against lesser teams they had found a way to win. (not that the teams they played weren't good...just missing thier stars)
wow, do you have an warped, inflated view or what. our first 2 opponents vs. who the bears played isn't exactly comparing apples to apples, now is it. seem to remember portis played-- yet the vikes brutalized their runners so they got him outta there. we came back on a short wk. to defeat a solid team in carolina, you think we need to pitty another team for missing one skill player after what we've been dealing w/, hello, k-rob has top flight ability but we sacrificed it and move on for the principle of it. were down 4 def. starters just like that-- lesser talent, you played gb and det., tonight jim mora sr. said minn. gave chic. all they wanted and then some, chic. was outplayed, no missed exchange, no bears. ps.-- seahawks' alexander(broken foot), guess we'll have to say your boys are playing against lesser talent this wk.
Man Timmy, listening to your posts, one would think the Vikings blew out the Bears. You keep talking as if you guys GAVE us the game yet you completely ignore the fact that the Bears had an UNCHARACTERISTIC amount of missed tackles and penalties.
You keep on with the "if's" that the Vike could have done but didn't, well the same can be said about the Bears.
IF we hadn't missed so many tackles, and IF we didn't have so many penalties, the Bears COULD have run over the Vikes like they did GB and Det
Guess what, none of those "if's" matter, the Bears were off their game and STILL won, and it feels GREAT!
empty feeling for you i'm sure-- like i said, everyone that witnessed the game came away w/ the same thought, the vikings outplayed the bears, rex the great, ha, threw what forty something passes, completing maybe half, you couldn't run the ball, i know that it is an L in our column, yet knowing that we can take down any team, priceless. ps. this is at least the second time in writing that you refer to missed tackles as a excuse for gettin wooped around the field, what a wuss, what, were your boys tired?
That's EXACTLY my point. The Vikings played close to their best and the Bears played pretty bad and the Bears still won. You've seen your ceiling and you're happy about it? Lowered expectations I guess.

Lower expectations? once this offensive line jells the offense will get on a roll. So you don't think there was a reason the bears played as you describe ,a bad game? use your head dude ( no, not that one again!) it was the vikes D that made you look bad.
oh ho ho, we've seen our ceiling, sure, sure, whole new coaching staff been at it for what, several months now, yeah, they've playin with what they've been dealt for the most part-- stick around a little while, we'll see in seasons to come how high that ceiling really is. more than i can say for coach smith, coach jaron hand delivered that defense, though no credit given-- you say not-- what did smith get accomplished in st. louis? that's what i thought. man, just go back to the board thread by go bear titled wk. 3 predictions and read the garbage he laid out prior to minn.vs. chic., the vikes brought both he and the bears down several pegs on one sunday afternoon.
yeah, feel the same about you, but coach j. got jerked around by the mclaskeys after he, not smith, turned them around w/ their 13-3 season several yrs. back, that was predicated on a def. that still have members there to date, such as urlacker, brown, etc. glad to see that coach j. was not invisible to knowledgeable nfl people and is doing well in buffalo--later days.
oh god what to take up first? I never said the Bears first 2 opponents were better than the ones you played....I was saying the BEARS are better than the first 2 you played, C-O-M-P-R-E-H-E-S-I-O-N....try it sometime. Now I don't agree with Miami that you guys have seen your ceiling yet, I think you will continue to get better, as I said...you are missing guys and did pretty good without them, but Bronkko is right...until you get a big armed QB you will go only so far.
Timmy....you are showing your ignorance with the Dick Jauron stuff...I mean just leave it alone. Simply go back and look at Uncle Dicks drafts and free agent moves and look where those guys are now (almost all of them are out of football....all of them!) He had nothing to do with this current D...the only guys left from his era are Urlacher and Brown, and here is all you need to know about Jaroun with this bit about Urlacher
Uralchers' rookie year in training camp Uncle Dickie had him lining up at Strong LB, the guy was a safety in college, didn't know how to take on a guy off the line. Labeld him a bust and moved him to back-up MLB, if the starter wouldn't have gotten hurt he would still be sitting there behind Minter.....the guys he drafted never got better because he never taught them anything....good motivator, but bad talent developer. he had a fullback fielding punts for 2 years for fuksakes! Columbo?....McNown?......David Terrell?.......3 of his 1st round picks......AND THE McCASKEYS SCREWED HIM!.....you have no clue what you're talking about...stick to the Vikings
unbelieveable-- your thinking the panthers and skins are lesser teams, what a laugh, the cats d., john foxx, jake and the boys--they've been ever bit as good as anyone-- bears included, and skins have made errors in reluctance to groom a qb., but i wouldn't write them off as lesser at this time. we all know the panthers are slow starters-- but foxx record speaks for itself. just like the other dude on here, you don't see what's going on in the league around you and you think the bears are it, well, your dead wrong, so i'll just agree to disagree and leave it there, good luck to you and yours. ps. sorry about your little missed tackles and penilties-- good coaching might help clear that up.
hey Timmy. from one vikes fan to another, enough! the boys have given our squad some props. the bears are the real deal. we played them tough, we have reason to be proud. but you're startin' to tread on packer ice here buddy. these guys know their ****, this thread is a losing cause. we are gonna be awesome, and we may give them a run for the division, but the past is the past. time to take the high road my purple brother.
