Real reason for Packers problems

PFT has gotten on Ted Thompson for the current packers lack of talent on their roster. The real reason is this...

http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=508020

I quote "Carroll's release leaves the Packers with just six players on the roster from Mike Sherman's four drafts as head coach and general manager. Linebacker Nick Barnett is the only first-round pick remaining."

6 player from 4 years of Mike Sherman drafts!!! We are talking about a lot draft picks and all that is left on the team is 5 players! Only 1 first round pick left. He has handycapped this team. Only now, with Ted Thompson drafting, do we have young talent on the team again (AJ Hawk, Pappinga, Hodge, Jennings, etc.). Given that you need to build teams through the draft, this is the reason they are struggling.

So are you blaming Mike Sherman for the Packers troubles, or Ted Thompson??

Mike Sherman has destroyed this team. Put them in cap hell. Drafted SORRY players. Traded up in the 3rd round for players like BJ Sander and James Lee. CUT HUNTER HILLENMEYER WHO FREAKIN STARTS FOR THE BEARS...TO MAKE ROOM FOR A 2ND PUNTER!!!! Incompetance at it's best. The only good thing that came out of his drafts is Nick Barnett. He was an average coach at best, but was one of the worst GMs Ive ever seen.

Ted Thompson on the other hand, has done the opposite. He has turned this club that hit rock bottom last year, into a team that will be competitive probably next year or the year after. He has 4 offensive starters from this years draft alone...who are getting better. He's drafted 3 defensive starters, who are also getting better....and another who is a future starter. His FAs occupy 4 other defensive positions, and 1 offensive position. All of his players are showing promise. He's rebuilding....just like Ron Wolf did. He's getting all the locker room cancers out (Carroll, Hunt, etc.). He only drafts players who are smart and can play.

Real reason for Packers problems....

KARMA

or you could say

Time wounds all heels...

or I could be serious and say that the above posts are correct and a combination of crappy coaching, horrible player decsions and awful drafts have combined into a vile witches brew to drag the once sucessful "little team that could" down into the cellar....

But I, bleeding purple, wearing the purple & gold glasses of obsessive fandom, prefer KARMA as an answer!

hey just a thought for you who follow the green and yellow - if your team continues to slide, you will at last be rid of the fleas and ticks of the bandwagon jumpers who know NOTHING of football and give the real fans a bad name.

That is exactly what I was saying. I am pointing this out becouse PFT, as stated in this link...

http://www.profootballtalk.com/LiveBlog.htm

and I quote
"A few quick observations:

3. Green Bay is just bad. What the hell has Ted Thompson done during his time as the G.M.?"

PFT is blaming Ted for the problems. That is what I am disagreeing with.

Ain't that the friggin truth. I love talking to people now who told me 3 or 4 weeks ago that they were the biggest Notre Dame fans in the world. Now, they are so so. The kind of people that wait for preseason polls to come out before they go shopping at Champ Sports. A$$holes.

I have been watching football for 30+ years....more specifically, the Packers. I've seen the ups, and I've seen the downs. I've seen loser coaches, and bust draft picks. I have stuck with the Packers that whole time, and never wavered. NEVER have I thought about saying screw the Packers and rooting for another team, or turning off the Packers to watch another team.

I'll cheer for the Steelers (who have been my 2nd favorite team since Lambert) when they are on and the Packers aren't. Lately I have been keeping up with Jacksonville and Carolina a little bit because I think Del Rio and Fox are good freakin coaches. I could care less if those teams lose though.....but I have a bad day when the Packers lose.

Then you have these guys who are JUST Brett Favre fans or started being Packer fans when they started being good in the mid-90's. Where were they in the 80's when the Pack was bad and da Bears would walk all over us? I guarentee if the Packers are bad for a long time, they will be on the next bandwagon....if they aren't already. Alot of people don't respect the history of the league and the history of teams now adays...its sad.

I watched my first football game in 1990 (I was six) and it was the Packers against the Lions..  dont remember who won (i could look it up) but I liked the color green, and my dad was a packers fan, so I became one, and have been ever since, and will be for life... even now, when they lose... sucks to watch though, makes me sad the rest of the day.  And I have been saying since day #1 that ahmad carroll (watched him a little when he was with arkansas) has poorr poor ball skills and had no technique when it came to playing corner.  Not to say the packers would be awesome without him, but Carroll over the last three years has been a MAJOR issue of the packers poor pass defense.

I mean, it's cool if you just started watching the Packers in the '90's if thats when you were old enough.....I'm talking about the bandwagon a$$holes who are fans of whoever is winning.

i know what you mean.  Weird how suddenly the packers and cowboys arent the most popular teams in america anymore.  I like my buddies method though.  doesnt know **** about football, never had a favirote team, so he said i should get one, and a couple years back I gave him a list of all the teams, and he goes, Ill take the Lions, and  say, dude are you sure, and he goes, yeah man.  And he has never wavered in 4 years from cheering for the lions.  When he could pick anyone, he took them,  that would suck.

You sound more like his legal guardian than his friend. Does he wear a childrens bicycle helmet when doing anything above and beyond watching scooby doo?

He was raised by rich parents, didnt watch football.  Just wanted to be a normal kid, not a rich pussy.  not everyone grows up in the tough town of chicago.
