Eagles-Saints REFS SUCK

What is up wit the EAGLES-SAINTS Refs? They are definitely messin up big time. They are atrocious. Was that not a beautiful play by Five to Jason Avant? Did Avant not catch that ball, get two feet in bounds, had control of the ball and got pushed outta bounds with one arm still holding the football? Did McNabb not get dragged down by a 'horse collar' tackle? Did he not get hit late on the first sack? Did Joe Horn did not push Sheldon Brown when he got a defensive pass interference? Mind you, this is all in the first half. This is not any excuse for Eagles poor play. The receivers need to hold onto the ball. But those REFS SUCK! Pulling for the Saints is not a resonable way to gather excitment for New Orleans.

The "late hit" on the first sack could barely be labeled a hit. The guy wasn't sure if McNabb tripped of was pushed down and he gently fell on top of him. As for the Avant catch, the rule clearly says you need to maintain control of the ball going out of bounds. The ball blatantly squirted out. Dunno what you're talking about with those other plays.

I saw that hit on McNabb by Will Smith, and I must say that was CLEARLY a late hit that was NOT called! Can you say favoritism, b/c I smell a RAT!

And I smell a hint of rasberry in your wine. Of all the teams we've beaten this year, only the Bucs fans came out and praised the Saints for winning. I'm not surprised that Philly fans are following your lead, though, they've pretty much been the biggest *******s of all sports fans (Dante was dead on about you guys in the podcast). Unfortunate considering that most of the players on the team exude class.

Giving us the game? The only thing your team gave us was a losing fight. You know, as a Saint fan, I'm used to losing. I've gotten used to admitting that the better team (i.e. the Saints opponent) won the game. Yet this year, outside of Buc fans, people are finding excuses as to why their team, the refs, or even the turf (!!!!) was the reason their team lost to the Saints, not because they are simply a superior team. Pretty sad. Oh well, looking forward to beating your team again in December.

Eagles fans have only their team to blame for losing that game. People just have a hard time to accept the fact that the Saints are a legitamate team, not to mention eagles fans are douche bags. I would like to point out the Saints were my suprise team of the year, and i called them for coming in second in the division to the 13-3 panthers and get a wild card - so far my predictions look as if they could hold true or very close to.

The thing is, the only thing that has been dragging the saints down for years and making their defense look worse that it is was poor quarterback play(defense constantly on the field because offense couldnt converte third downs and turned the ball over way to much), that was fixed the day this team signed drew brees and ive been a believer in the saints ever since.

Well, let's see how they do during the tough stretch of their schedule which comes after the bye. They will earn my respect when their D stops giving up more than 20 points a game (in fact, that's what I think is gonna eventually do them in!). Upset a team like the Stillers and I'll be impressed. Or maybe sweep the Falcons.

well, the refereeing was questionable on a couple of plays. A couple pass interference that went against the Eagles, both offensively and defensively and one near the end zone that didn't get called on the Saints, and I couldn't tell if Moats ran into the return man or if he got pushed, The Saints player threw his hands up in the air which is usually a sign that they did something wrong.

But the Saints are very much improved and I don't think it was just the addition of Brees, though that helped. I think the coach has put together some good game plans. Still the Eagles had a chance, especially if they could've gotten the sack with 11 men on the field(derf!). No refereeing to blame there. it would have forced a punt or a nearly impossible field goal. But a good short field, ball control offensive gameplan by the Saints. It's been killing the Eagles D so far this season. It's either making big plays or giving them up. Not a great way to play, no matter the quality of opponent. Good job by the Saints to control the final minutes.

I concur with you on that Shack.  Also, Sean Payton, the Saints HC, has had a history of developing max-protection schemes that have been very successful against Jim Johnson and the EAGLES D, and they obviously worked well for him again yesterday.

I think i said after week 2 that the Saints were a legit team.  Everyone then said, wait until they play the falcons, the bucs, the eagles.. Well they beat those teams, lost to the panthers by 3.  I agree that their games are all close, (all within a touchdown minus the falcons game)  but good teams win close games, and the Saints are doing it this year. Give credit to Sean Payton and Drew Brees.  And also give credit to Reggie bush, his stats are a little low, but he makes a big time impact on the game plans of his team and the other team.

sure, the saints are MORE than legit. kudos to them for hanging onto the ball at the end to get the win. the birds' d couldn't get brees and co. off the field, man! they imploded with bonehead plays down the stretch (is michael lewis in someone's pocket???).

however, thrillho, yesterday's reffing WAS attrocious, and that WAS a late hit. there was a terrible pass interference call, too. i know people like to jab philly fans, but in this case the complaining is warranted.

wait until we're REALLY acting like babies, and you might not get so much flak for jumping all over us. i'm sure the opportunity will arise.

after the game, sean p himself said that the birds are what the saints aspire to. to a man, the saints who were interviewed sounded like they knew they got away with something. payton knows his team caught the birds in a bad spot: it's a letdown week, after the most emotional game they've played since the nfc cg against atlanta at the end of 2004.

but hey, the saints are lookin' good!!! and good teams capitalize on other people's mistakes. great teams don't make enough mistakes for other teams to capitalize on them. great teams also win games on letdown weeks. a machine like the recent patriots dynasty rarely hiccuped in tight spots like the one the birds were in yesterday.

and as much as i love the eagles, right now, they're not playing like a 'great team'. they look like a talented team that is used to winning, and has forgotten how to do the little things that ensure victories. they look VERY HUMAN, mistake prone. they lack killer instinct.

more tangibly, they have two major problems: a soft run d that won't allow them to keep the opposition's offense off the field, and and a weak rushing attack that won't allow them to sustain drives.

if they don't solve these problems, they won't make the playoffs. they have a tough schedule the rest of the way. tampa bay's not as bad as their record, and neither is tenessee.

even if they do, they might only be a one-and-done.

enjoy your win, thrillho. fortune is fickle, and saints may come back to earth soon. there's no doubt they have a bright future, however.

There was no doubt bad calls against the Eagles... But the Eagles shot themselves in the foot again, just like the Giants game.   And if the Eagles dident get off to such a slow start they probally would have pulled it out... (It happins)  They are the #1 offensive team in the league,  but Michael Lewis struggled BAD in that game...  They need to win this week vs. the Bucs and get back on track.

O an i know what FEMA did with all that hurricane money..  They paid off the REFS....

haha

The Saints arent a bad team at all...but having said that...the Eagles gave away the game. Let down...maybe a little. But my finger points directly at the special teams. A muffed punt...several punts inside the 10 that were not downed but instead went for touchbacks.

It is the little things that are difference makers. Yes you can point to a dropped pass or a bad call...but to me it was the special teams.

Jim Johnsons defense is designed on the personnel he has to work with on any given day. The Eagles are vulnerable to the short pass attack...this daes back to Deion Branch and the loss in the SB (maybe even to the loss to Tampa). But as the field shortens.....and you have 22 men in a 20 yard area....Johnsons D is as tuff as any.

They also can be very dangerous when an opponent is backed up......hence the special teams reference. Designed blitzes...deep cover safties..ect.ect. but when its a touchback...your options are limited.

Bottom line...the Eagles Fukd up....and that twice this year.

Regarding this week's game vs. the Bucs, my only doubt is that they are going up against another coach in Jon Gruden (or "Chuckie", as we like to call him), who has had a history of success against us. But I also feel that this Bucs team (despite the fact that they still have some of those stars on defense) is clearly different from the one they have encountered in the past and I am fully expecting the BIRDS to come out of TB with a W.

Final Score: EAGLES 27, Bucs 7
