Some thoughts on first half Chicago fans:

Your defensive coaches obviously do a great job emphasizing stripping and ripping at the football.  It is paying off big time.  You can see it from top to bottom.

Special teams look great.  Coverage teams are flying around.

Iowa:  your boy Hester looking better every week.  The Steelers have a guy like Hester in Willie Reid; another really good punt returner from a florida college.  Unfortunately Reid has been injured, leaving our punt return team in shambles.

How about that play by Urlacher, the tip/pick?

Tommie Harris is a beast.  I wanted the Steelers to draft him over Ben Roth on draft day.  I would say I was wrong, but not ALL wrong for being dissapointed that day.

Thomas Jones sliced and diced the defense the enitre first half.  Running game looked good as hell.

Some thoughts on Lovie Smith:  Going for it on 4th down with a 27 point lead in 2nd quarter?  Good for him.  2nd quarter is always too early to give up.

Pushing the ball down the field, with not much time left at end of half?  Good for you Lovie.  It was a breath of fresh air from Captain Conservative's practices.

Griese now looks like fukn garbage though....And what in the fuk with Cedric Bensen. The guy has not siezed upon the opportunities that he has been given this year....at all.

I noticed one thing. In an effort to prove that he is a tough guy, he tends to take on defenders when there is no reason to do so when a simple sidestep or a juke would likely have gotten him some extra yardage.

Cedric doesn't appear to have his timing down. He runs into the back of his blockers too much too. He is scary bad in my book. Maybe with some more time he will learn to pace and hit his spots. For now....garbage.

Hes a north south runner that cannot find a hole.

I know why the team hates him so much too.

The well respected o-lineman have helmet marks all over their backs and cleat marks on their legs from his bullsh!t rookie running style.

I disagree on Benson. He is not the type of runner that is going to come play 8 plays and break a 65 yarder like Jerious Norwood. He needs to get in a groove and it's not going to happen on the bench. I am confident that if he played a full game in SF, he would have done better than Jones. This was by far Jones' best day this year. He was decisive and he didn't dance as much as usual. I don't mind dancing, because it can result in big plays, but he's been doing it on 3rd and ones all year long resulting in punts.

At this point, I want them to share equal carries but I suspect Lovie and company do not want to rock the boat while everything is going good.

As far as Lovie's aggressiveness, I LOVE IT. He's not calling off the dogs no matter what the score. I think he believes even if we don't score, it's good to have the players practice those situations in a real game. It may change the course of a game down the road.

I don't know GoBears, I think Don needs his Ma's approval first before any unauthorized Chunky is distributed.  And she will kick Reid's a$$ before he benches DOn.

I like the way the Bears are playing this season, but the first thing everyone should remember is that the 49ers make EVERYONE look good these days. Their offense has improved somewhat since last year but their defense is horrific. In three of their last four games they've given up more than 40 points and yesterday, "garbage time" started with about a minute to go in the first quarter.

Chicago, particularly on defense, has both the horses and the coaching to get it done, although they may miss Mike Brown as the season progresses. They're players are strong and fast and know the defense so well that they can play with abandon and compensate for what few mistakes they do make. On offense, Rex Grossman easily put the troubles he had with the Cards behind him, and although it was only the Niners he was playing, this game was still a confidence booster.

BTW, yesterday's game should be remembered by anyone who in the future starts calling for his coach's or QB's head during the preseason. In the first exhibition game, the Niners crushed Chicago. Alex Smith looked great and Rex Grossman looked as if he had never played the game before. Sunday's result reminds us just how pointless those practice games really are.

You got that right Bolivar. Anyone who walks away feeling great after a pre-season win should have their fukn head checked. Good teams have absolutely nothing to prove int he preseason whatsoever. Bad teams want the confidence boost.

Good teams also try bull**** new plays and don't dig deep into their normal playbook so as not to give teams film. Bad teams have to, because they can barely execute the plays they run over and over again in practice.

They should cut preseason down to 2 fukn games already. It's a bad fukn joke now.

Give us 2 more games that mean something instead of 4 that don't mean sh1t.
