AFC Awards?

Are you kidding me?  Merriman is the best LB so far?  I agree he's been an impact player, but what about Julian Peterson for Seattle?  He has 8 sacks and his speed / strength didn't come from a bottle.  Furthermore, while we don't think that Mario Williams warranted the first pick, he has improved steadily.  If you want to look for someone who has been horrible, how about Santurdio?  High schoolers can retrieve punts better than this loser.

Since when does Peterson play in the AFC?  Are you stuck in 2001?

Santurdio has been an okay wideout.  Horrible returner.

Great.  One post and I'm an idiot.  You can't pick Merriman, regardless.  He's a cheater and anyone who believes his bs probably believed in the WMD in Iraq too.

Well see how good holmes is going forward. So Far hes been a complete buster, squandering away almost every opportunity that he has had to touch the ball.

One thing of not. Roethlisberger looked very very comfortable for once in the pocket this last weekend. Look for them to reemerge as a contender in that division.

It's actually funny how Holmes hasn't fumbled on a reception, but almost half his returns.  He will turn out to be a solid #2 or #3 posession guy if he continues to work.  He actually has good hands, but this guy is no gamebreaker like he was in college.

You wanna call Holmes the worst AFC rookie?  Mercedes Lewis 4 catches 51 yards.  Holmes 22 323 Yards.  At least Holmes plays on offense.

LOL Marauder, you can join the idiot club with me.  Sometimes I think and type too fast...it's not a good combination...."and now my impression of the excited southerner typing in an NFL blog" courtesy of Adam Sandler.

those awards are a joke. Mario Williams is the worst rookie? Oh really now. Does Florio actually watch the games?

You know how many rookies there are on NFL rosters? And Mario, with all the plays he's made, is the worst? At least he starts.

Santonio Holmes has been costing his team all season. Pitt finally benched him on Sunday after two fumbles.

I know he is not in the AFC, but Colston from NO has to be considered the rookie of the year so far, he has 700 yds. recieving so far, and he leads the league in TD's with Torry Holt...

Also Santonio will be a good reciever opposite Ward in the future, he shows promise as a reciever, but if he fields a punt for the Steelers again this season our Special Teams coach should be fired...

As the #1 overall pick in the draft, Mario Williams is in fact a bust so far...

Don't blame that on Kevin Spencer.  That's Bill's decision to keep running Holmes out there.

Besides, like Bill said, "Santonio's got that look in his eye....."

Coles is the best WR in the AFC?  C'mon...even us idiots know that to be a reach.    It's hard to argue with Harrison, but I'd submit that even Wayne, Ward, Andre Johnson and Javon Walker are better than Coles.  I like the guy, but he isn't close to being the best.

Now let's get it straight......it's SanTURDio Holmes.

The kid may or may not turn into a decent player......that remains to be seen......but I think it's safe to conclude that his "turd-hood" is confirmed.

Mario Williams has been better than Reggie Bush, that's for sure.

Bottom line: he's not the worst rookie, no matter how you feel about him.

Question wasn't who was the best WR in the AFC.  Question was who has been the AFC receiver of the year at the midway point.  I go with Coles because he has held Pennington's hand in bringing back the passing game and offense to the NY Jets.  Without Coles I don't think the Jets would have a .500 record.  So, my vote goes to Coles for AFC receiver of the year at the midway point.

Did you comprehend that ok????

The only reason that Javon Walker isn't considered the best right now is because Jake Plummer has chosen to take a half of a season off once again.

Javon has made magic many times with that ball. I have watched him take passess out of DB hands, Leap over people, and burn peoples assess on longballs.

Walker is a fukn beast.

I agree with Galason here, Walker is a fukn wildman.  The system in Denver is to establish the run.  Because of that game plan, Javon Walker is not leading in recieving yards.  Indy doesn't run, so both of their recievers are near top dogs.

If you are looking at just numbers alone, then most obviously Harrison and Wayne are it, but when you look at raw playmaking ability, I think Walker is the man of the present and future.

Not one year Just a year from a devastating knee injury and the guy came back and hasn't missed a beat. I haven't seen that in some time.

If Plummer keeps his act together...Think about it. Rod Smith is his second rcvr. Denver's D has allowed Plummer to play like absolute **** and still win games... Denver is going to be very tough to beat come playoff time this year in my opinion.

Christopher, do you really believe Romeo is the worst coach in the AFC? He certainly owns the mistake that was Carthon running the offense, but his team has the same number of wins as pre-season darling Dolphin's Saban and defending champtions Cowher's Steelers. Might as well throw Art Shell into the mix as well. The Browns had no expectations and minimal talent, I just don't think that equates to the worst coaching job when Saban shines so bright in the same category.

I agree the Browns have the worst linebacker, but its no McGinnest - he simply hasn't been on the field enough to qualify. Andra Davis was suppose to blossom into a stud after a couple 100+ tackle seasons, but he's getting pushed around far too much this year and should take some blame for the pisspoor rush D.

I didnt say that Mario Williams is the worst rookie, read my post again, I said he is the most dissapointing because he was the first overall pick, and no, he is not outperforming Reggie Bush...

I agree with you GoBears.  I think the fact that they've seen Indy already will probably only help them.  The only real issue I see with this team is that their pass rush is rather weak, but other than that, I think they are a solid all around football team.  In fact, other than Denver, I think there are a LOT of teams who are capable of making noise come playoff time.

Denvers pass rush is weak? That is an understatement. Their pass rush outright sucks.

I still cannot figure out why their defense is so damn good. They must be the exception to the rule. I have watched so many games in which their front four were just completely dominated. The one that stands out the most is the Oakland game. Oakland gave up 9 fukn sacks against the Seahawks...Walter was standing in the pocket all game...flatfooted....play after play. It was disturbingly bad.

two questions

One: Whats with the name Santurdio?

Two: Santonio is a pretty good receiver, and he should start instead of Cedric

Wilson who has been pretty dispointing this year. He has solid hands, as I have yet to see him drop a really easy one. Returning is a completely different story as he has been plagued by costly and idiotic fumbles. Once Willie Reid comes back Santonio will probably be relieved of those duties. Marcedes Lewis is a bust as of right now.

You can't be considered bust if you are injured for the bulk of the season. Plus, He's not exactly in pass catcher heaven on the Jags. That place is a black hole for rcvrs.

Dominique Byrd....now that is a bust. He sits behind Joe Klopfenstein and Aaron Walker. He isn't/Wasn't  injured.

My bad i forgot he was injured. But last I knew he still isn't starting, and Santonio isn't in pass-catcher heaven either. How can you be a bust if you are drafted in the 3rd (i think) round? I do question the rams drafting him if they had absolutely no use for him, however.

Where did I say you called him the worst rookie? Florio called him the worst AFC rookie and that's asinine. Proves Florio doesn't watch much in the way of NFL games.

And yes, he's done a hell of a lot more than Bush. Bush has done very little this season. Total bust at RB and failure at almost everything.

Maybe he'll be good someday, but he sucks now.

I'll tell you how you can be a bust as a third round pick.
When a team Jettisons all existing tight ends and drafts and invests a third round pick in you and you dont even see the field in preseason....
