wildcard battles....

i know that theres a whole lot of football to play, and though highly improbable, let's just pretend that all the 1st place teams are locked in already. if any of the top teams drop, they will most likely just switch places with a wildcard team anyway. we're talking about narrowing the playoff field here. which of these teams in the running for wildcard spots have the best chance? most importantly, how many of these teams can reasonably be discounted as true contenders?

NFC

Eagles 5-4
Cowboys 5-4
Panthers 5-4
Falcons 5-4

i think minnesota and st. louis have a pretty good chance to join the race at 4-5 each...

AFC

Chargers 7-2
Jets 5-4
Chiefs 5-4
Jags 5-4

cant count out Bengals 4-5

My prediction for the AFC West is the San Diego wins the division and the Donkee's come in at 2nd place, and hopefully my Chiefs can squeeze into the 2nd wildcard spot.

I'm leaning toward Denver winning the division, with San Diego and (maybe) Kansas City getting the wildcard spots (I said Denver would win this division in the pre-season, so I'm gonna keep my word on that).  But regardless of who who wins that division, I think the Broncos and Bolts are both a virtual lock to get in, however, KC's playoff ticket is still very much in question right now.

I very much agree, San Diego/Denver make the playoffs.  I don't know how the Broncos continue to win, but they do.  The run defense is fearless and that prick of a CB out of Champ Bailey, they have a great, great D.  Their defense keeps them in games.  I also very much agree that KC isn't anywhere close to punching a hole in their plane ticket yet.  With the number of injuries and the number of 3 and outs for our offense (moreso, lack of moving the ball)...they have a long, long road ahead of them.  They should of beaten the Fins this weekend and those are the games they are going to have to win to get to the playoffs.

I think the Falcons are in big trouble in the NFC race..  The Saints should have the division baring a collapse and a strong run from the Panthers. (Witch they seem to do every year)  That leaves the Falcons out..  There defense is so banged up, I can’t see them turning it around..

I believe the Wildcard winners in the NFC will come out of the East and the South..  The only teams that might have a shot are the Rams & Vikes.  But I don’t see that happening..    After the next three week thing might be a little clearer..
