Yeah homer that is. I know I'm the only one on this board or on this site that has defended o'l mexico..I 've never been blind to his defaults. I know his passing game is not worthy of the "best" QB in the league title, or the"hype" for a typical QB. I think this is the year that will define Mike Vick. McKay and co. (I'm convinced) are thinking the same, we should have given up Schaub, we could probably have named the price. HE*L he said it himself "I built this teamt to win now". Make no mistake, I'm still on the wagon. But the time is now , like it or not he has a NICE record for his tenure, and his chance is not over. IOWA, (promise this is the last Vick post for a LONG while-season) holla at me, whatcha think? Is is already a done deal? Vick hater/lovers/fence walkers let me hear your opinion....
My opinion need not be stated, as I look forward to feeding time
as I have said in the past, if he ever settles in as a QB he will be everything that you think he is...the fact that Crumpler has been missing I think will help him get in sync with his WRs....but if he doesn't this year he gets labeled a bust. He has the WRs to get the job done and he has been in the system long enough to get comfortable...it is now or never for Vick.
I couldn't agree with you 2 more. He will either excel or bust out this year. Mora is so young in his career that he would make the change without hesitiation.
Every year Mora commits a criminal offense by not writing a "game changing" offense playbook that puts both Vick and Schwab on the field for at least 40% of snaps.
Otherwise Vick is what keeps the Falcons from being an "elite team". They will never get there until they either draft a decent QB, or rewrite the playbook around Vick's talents.
if vick isn't running around, he's average at best. same deal with aaron brooks. when he was running, wow, playmaker. when he stopped running, utter crap. if they don't let vince young run then he too will be average at best.
why take a guy and change him and expect him to dominate in other areas? give him the ball and run the option, problem solved.
and yes, mora is hard headed. as are most coaches who don't pull out a starting player who just isn't getting it done. a little bench time never hurt nobody.
I didn't really see myself posting on this topic, but then I read the suggestion to play vick in an option offense. For those of us who remember vick in college, we remember that everyone at the time thought vick would be a perfect option qb. the only problem being that he was so goddamned stupid that he couldn't run the option. They tried, and he totally failed at it. He's like the anti eric crouch. To think that michael vick can be successful in anything other than the dan reeves style offense is just silly. He's got to be the worst short range passer starting in the nfl. He's completely uncomfortable in the pocket and is a danger to be sacked on every play. And besides, the only true way to run the option is the triple option, and noone in their right mind is going to run the ball with their fullback in the nfl, and nfl defensive players are way too fast not to screw it up. also, can you possibly imagine how totally screwed michael vick would be running the option? he and warrick dunn would be the two smallest players on the field and on every run vick would be getting hit by a 250 lbs linebacker, either to end the play or just as he handed off. His running ability really only is any good when he can slide, get out of bounds, or score. Anytime he gets hit is just another chance for him to be out for the season.
