is this a new trend in the nfl? either be ready to go or they PUP ya? i read Reid would single guys out publicly if they weren't holdin' their own, is Childress just making an example or will big pat be gone?
my guess is, if he doesn't shape up he will likely be shipped out... that is, if childress is able to call the shots, roster wise. i know Sean Payton isn't playing around with pup players if they are there for conditioning reasons.
maybe it is different with veterans... i know we brought in Hollis Thomas from Philly and he's a big ole barrel himself. but apparently he is able to carry his weight.

He can't be as bad as Sully. We could use some better DTs. I'd take fat Pat in a second.
With 2 fat DT's, maybe NE aught to consider switching back to the 4-3! If they did so, they'd have more than 600 lbs. of bulk in the interior of their D line! lol!!!

If we went back to the 4-3 we would be SAVED! Our current personnel lend themselves to the 4-3 much more so than the 3-4.
In a 4-3 Richard Seymour would play tackle as often as end. Jarvis Green would play End when Seymour was at Tackle. They would also want to get Mike Wright on the field at Tackle.
I can't see Sullivan making the team after that arrest anyways. Belichick can't just cut him for getting arrested but he can cut him for sucking when roster cut-down time comes.

Playing with the PUP
Putting players on the physically unable to perform list (PUP) has always gone on in the modern NFL, but it is starting to seem like more players are on it for precautionary reasons.
After Bill Parcells used the PUP list for Larry Allen until he could pass a fitness test, a lot of teams are now doing the same. I am waiting for a player to really injure himself away from the football environment while he is supposedly on the PUP list by the club.

from the very start reid has been rough on out-of-shape guys. in his rookie year as Birds coach, he made George Hegamin push a blocking sled up and down the field after practice, only to cut him the next day. Not that Childress was around for THAT particular incident, but he seems to share Reid's method, huh?
it's interesting about the larry allen angle. i figured with the Mankato heat and humidity it was just a reaction to the korey stringer thing. nicely done saturn.
