It's not that "c-mart" doesn't want to play, it's the fact that he has absolutely no cartilage in his knee left. Apparently his bones are actually rubbing together. I can tell you from experience, that's pretty painful.
I don't know what they will do. My hunch is that they will try Blaylock and Houston initially, and it if they aren't producing, they will try and work something out.
I watched Cedric Houston all through his career at U of Tennesse, and he is a good RB when healthy. He can produce, but his health was up and down during his college years.
People under estimate the negative effect astroturf has on a RB long term. Look at what's happening to Faulk and Martin. Barry Sanders and Robert Smith (turf RBs) got out early so they didn't end up like Earl Campbell. That poor guy can't even walk.
But as for the Jets current situation, I think Cedric Houston and Leon Washington will end up splitting the time. Washington is better than people think, he was just a victim of FSU's crappy offensive system.

Do you think C-Mart wants to play?
Curtis Martin is an absolute warrior. He WANTS to play....he LOVES to play....his body has problems with it.
Curtis Martin is everything that is good about football.

That's my general impression of him, but I thought I'd ask, 'cuz some in the press have questioned his desire, and in the end, i'm just a fan, so what the he££ do I know, right? But hey, there's ALOT of sportswriters with axes to grind...
I love hearin' that guys are warriors. that's what makes football so great...so effin inspiring.
With the Diva factor through the roof these days, we need more guys like Martin.
Thanks to Backinthesaddle and GraveDigs for their opinions. Hearing stuff like that restores my faith in the game.
I suppose the next question is: how effective can he be with bone rubbing against bone?
I would say lets give them Thomas Jones, but what would they have that we would want?
Laveranues Coles? They wouldnt part with him. Justin McCareins, aside from being a local product, plays not unlike Justin Gage, in which case the trade wouldn't benefit us at all.
A Draft pick (second rounder possibly for next year?) I would do this in a minute. If the Bears do well this year, they may be able to parlay their 2 second round picks next year to jump up and grab some upper eschelon talent from the top of the class next year.
That's another team with so many needs that they really can't sacrifice much to get a running back because they dont have much to sacrifice.
