Pre season games

It seems as though, every year at this time, a number of front line players are hurt in a pre season game. some miss the entire season.

Why not cut the pre season back to two games, in which the rookies that are trying to make the team play the first game and the second game can be used as a tune up for the start of the 18 game season.

the teams could use the same system to cut down on the players by using what would now be the second game of the season as the final cut.

if a name player is going to get hurt, it might as well be for something that counts

I could be wrong, but I believe the season is still 16 games...

He was including his suggested 2 "quasi-preseason" games for a total of 18.

I agree, 2 games that don't mean a goddamn thing is enough.

I guess i need to remember that some of you are like my wife.... everything needs to be spelled out in minute details.

Yes, I do know that the football season is 16 games, as i was watching football before you were born, but there is no way the NFL will eliminate 2 games , if they only had 2 preseason games, they would simply add the other 2 to the regular season schedule.

When I started watching football, they only played 12 games

that and the owners love the preseason games...they don't have to share that revenue....it doesn't count in the seasons profit (see preseason)...and they stick every season ticket holder with 2 of the damn things at REGULAR game prices.....the beer isn't cheaper...the dogs cost the same....they are a cash cow, be happy they don't have more of the damn things

preseason games get other areas some exposure to the NFL experience, areas that otherwise might not have a whole lot going on.

coaches just should not play players that they fear having get hurt.. for many backups and new players on a squad, the preseason is a chance for them to shine when otherwise they might not ever get the chance.
