Hey guys. I had the opportunity to interview Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver Devin Aromashodu to talk about the training camps, improving on his wide receiving routs, how the veterans have helped him, Nick Saban, what his role will be this year, what he intends to accomplish, and so much more in a revealing interview.
You can read and listen to the interview at the link below.
1. The site is a DISASTER. Any reader will be turned off right away by such an amature presentation.
2. The questions OR the answers should be bolded so there is some flow to the document. By having all the text the same it becomes very annoying to read, very quickly.
That said, your interviews are well conducted and composed. Just fix the GODDAMN presentation.
Fuk the presentation , interview somebody who people give a flying fuk about.
Devin Tishmondu? Is he the greenskeeper for the Dolphins? Did you fly down to Miami specifically to interview this guy? Did you spend any money to get first ever "Exlusive" interview? How shocked was this guy when you asked to interview him? "WHo me, you want to talk to me????..yah, I guess ok!"
I am mostly strictly internet journalism and the internet is still getting its respect slowly.
Yeah I do have a national radio credential, but only 1/3 of my interviews get featured on there. I have been doing this for three years in sports strictly and some things are easier than others.
Some NFL teams won't touch me because I am internet mostly. The local outlets come first and then the outside ones. Some teams are more open to me interviewing bigger names than others.
You try making a reputation and competing in this tough field. I take every interview as a learning experience. Yeah I am good and have dozens of contacts, but the big names are reserved usually for the TV and national radio people and local press in their city.
I have only gotten two complaints ever about the format. I provide both audio and transcript so if you have problem reading you can listen. 99 percent is fine with the format.
I am 20 years old and I appreciate all criticism, but to think one day you just walk on the job and interview Terrell Owens doesn't work that way, but I did just miss him for a book interview a months ago.
I do have a reputation yes, but I like learning about new guys. I will be hitting up some bigger names this season, but again I am one of a few mostly internet journalists with a good site and a big base of readers.
I appreciate the criticism and try to please everyone, but you that's impossible in this society today.
I can get the big names sometimes, but not all the time. It depends on the circumstance of the project.
I have no problem with who you interviewed. I prefer the interviews with "the little guy". As a Patriots fan I can access a 24 hour "All Tom Brady All the Time" news stream, but what about Vince Wilfork (one of my favorite players)? Nobody gives him the credit he is due, and hearing from him is rare.
So on that point...... thanks, and good for you!
Back to "presentation" though. I was not talking about your format as concerns the file type you distribute. I was talking about how it "looks" and it "looks" like it was designed by a special needs pre-schooler.
As an example look at these 2 sites and tell me which you whould take more seriously:
The answer is #1, because number 2 looks like... well...... number 2 (sh1t). If you want to be taken seriously you need to present yourself professionally. The second site I listed totally BLOWS but it is still 1,000 times better then yours.
Just look at PFT. You can tell the moment you look at it that time, effort, and respect was poured into it. Yours looks like a high school kid trying to pass off an awful HTML 101 assignment.
I respect your opinion. My content though has stood above the design. I like keeping things simple. Not a great web designer. I will look into upgrading it, but I am not a flashy guy. I don't need some great fantastic design to show off. Major entertainment companies look at that site and have liked it.
The web site hasn't held me back from getting a story is all I will say. Fox Sports has even looked at my stuff and love what I do.
I appreciate the feedback and criticism. I just like to keep things simple and I feel my work speaks for itself. But I will take your criticism and look into making it a better design in the future.
I do a lot of great stuff and appreciate everyone who reads my stuff.
Yeah Chris Ninja is right about that. Try this site. The sites are very cheap to purchase and do on your own and are very very good. I can help you out if you need some tools to edit them. Most of them are very easy to edit though..Send me a private message if you need a hand or some tools with these.
I think maybe something else to distinguish the difference between your questions and the responses other than quotations (maybe bullets or initials like the interviews in XXL Magazine) could make it an easier read but other that that I give you credit for going out there and trying to get interviews like you are. The layout of your site doesn't have to be fancy so you don't have anything take away from the interviews.
