Losing 'cause of Coaching in KC?

So after watching the Skins loose their second game under Al "the big scorer" Saunders as offensive coordinator, I am not so sure that Mike Solari (new Chiefs O.C.) is doing anything horribly bad with the Chief's offense.  The motions and shifts are there to help set up decent plays.  Also, the O-line looked a bit better with Kevin Sampson in there versus Jordan Black.  Larry Johnson runs for 116 yards and has a good game.  Michael Bennent had a flash or two of being a capeable backup.  Hell, I saw Eddie (shove your opponent in the back as he's nailing your QB) Kennison trying to block two different guys on both sides of him on a run play.

Kansas City fans finally had something small to talk about when they watched their defense slobber knock and bully the Denver offense.  We are finally seeing good talent with attitude on the defensive side of the ball.  Thank goodness the defense played well yesterday or else the Chiefs leave Denver with a bad taste in their mouths'.  The defense kept the game close and that's what I am happy about.  They are still not a whole unit yet, but they are well on their way.

So why did we lose the game yesterday?  We can say that if Trent Green had been playing that we had a better chance, but then again, what is a backup QB for?  The Chiefs played it real safe with Huard the entire game.  Towards the end of the game, the Chiefs probably could had used a little better combo from their offensive playbook.  You could tell that Huard was getting his confidence back and in the 4th quarter, the jitters are gone (or should be gone).  There were NO playmakers on offensense and that is because of the "let's play it safe" attitude.  So I blame the loss on play selection by the entire offensive coaching staff including Herm.  The play calling was poor in the 4th quarter and if you don't trust your backup QB to be a playmaker, than don't sign him.  Should I be scared as a Chiefs fan that we are going to have a losing season?  You answer that, but we'll see and time will tell.  Maybe we sign Billy Volek and with the addition of Rod Gardner we might be okay and hopefully the O-line can stay healthy. The defense is impressive and fun to watch for the first time since the Neil Smith and Derrick Thomas days.

Your getting stomped because the guys on your o-line that kept you from getting stomped retired.

I wouldn't call a 9-6 loss at Invesco Field a "stomping" but Cincy handed it too us.  Losing Willie Roaf hurts, losing John Welborn was like watching me flush my crap down the toilet.  I agree, having an outstanding LT is a huge loss to the Chiefs.

Willie Roaf, Kyle Turley and Herman "We Play To Win The Game!" Edwards are going to be the reasons the Chiefs go nowhere. Turley in for Roaf is going to get either or both Trent Green & LJ KILLED, and Herm is going to make some COMICAL (not if you're a chiefs fan) coaching mistakes. check his record in NY. Have fun BigBoyChief, Poor Bastard.

Oh yeah, I forgot... Edwards. Good luck with that guy, he is borderline retarded. He needed someone to read the clock for him in New York, and he still couldn't get it right.

He can "get in" with the players quite well, but he is no smarter or more suited for coaching then the players are so it figures they get along well.

Enjoy losing.... hard.

Edwards has never impressed me. It seems to me that he's just a glorified cheerleader. In the game-planning, tactical and strategic capacity he is WAY lacking.

I remember that beligerant outbust "You play to win the game!!!.....You play to win the game!!!" Then I watched him make overly conservative decisions at the end of games which ultimately caused the Jets to lose. And yes.....he also screwed up the clock management at times which also caused at least one loss I can remember.

Any offensive coordinator will look like a guru with Larry Johnson running the ball and Tony Gonzalez catching the ball. Those guys do nothing but gain yards.

Well, they have a bye this week, then they play the 49ers at Arrowhead the following week.  Maybe they can turn things around then!

Man, you guys are freakin hillarious.  The "boarderline retarted" comment from Jetblackninja is the best though.  A lot of you guys say that Herm is a real dumbass and I will tell you that a lot of KC fans were glad to see him come here.  We (or at least I) liked Vermiel quite a bit, but his old age and crying was wearing on us.  Herm presented a tough, stern front at his first couple of press conferences.  We got excited, but the very first game of the year, Arrowhead went crazy by booing Herm and Solari for a 3rd and 5 HB lead play.  Supposedly, they thought it was 2nd down.  If this was Pop Warner football, I'd believe that, but not in the NFL.  Arrowhead may not be the loudest stadium anymore, but they don't mess around with jackass play calling and aren't shy to even boo the home team. As much of a turd as King Carl is, I doubt that he'll hire an assistant to help Herm with clock managment.
