i'll be at the linc... im pumped.... maybe farve will get those last 20 INTs he needs tonight and i'll get to witness in person the legend that brett favre has become...
Thanks to Favre we have to endure a horrid MNF game featuring a 4-12 Packer team from a year ago who didn't get much, or any, better. Favre has had his MNF farewell game and I would much rather watch two competitive teams and leave the Favre nostalgia to Sunday at 1:00 where it belongs.
tonight, favre looked positively pedestrian while his team was still in the game, and he was a huge part of why it turned into a romp. i mean, dang, he hit michael lewis in stride with that interception toss.
even though the birds obviously have a long way to go if they wanna get back onto glory road, they still trounced the pack, which speaks volumes about how far from being back is yer pack.
gravedigger, i'll be disappointed if you don't post in all your pro-pack delusional glory soon....
vanni, hark, thanks for gettin' me pumped for the game!!!!
such an ugly first two and a half quarters tho... i never thought they were gonna lose... but it seemed like they were trying to... what really freaked me out is the fact that favre had all the time in the world to get off passes... why couldn't we sack against arguably one of the weakest o lines (esp the interior) in the league???? i dunno if you could see on tv, but the score didnt neccessarily reflect on the performance of our secondary... there were packers receivers open all day that brett couldn't see without his geriatric strength bifocals, and when he did see them, they dropped the passes half the time. andy, what was that fake FG about???? if we give dallas a first half like that were done... i cant say im not worried...
on a good note the eagles had about 10-15 minutes of spectactular highlight reel play, this years team is the idiot savant of the national football league. stretches of absolute ineptitude perforated by flashes of pure greatness.... can we do something about the focus out there or something???
any word on stallworth and browns injuries???
oh and i have a question to anyone who was watching the game on tv... in the third quarter on a 3rd down play i believe, there was a penalty call that gave the pack an automatic first down... the call was "illegal contact while the qb was in the pocket." the jumbotron didnt really show us anything and nobody in the stands really knew what the hell happened... if you know what im talking about, fill me in....
As promised, I'm gonna say good job to the Eagles. It was a tough game in the 1st half. The Eagles defense was better than I thought. Before the game, I didn't think their LBs were impressive, but they played well. I didn't think the Eagles Dline played as expected....no sacks on Favre or Rodgers. Their secondary played better than expected, Dawkins was looking his best. I was dissapointed the Packers didn't attack Hanson that much....they could have done alot on him. Favre didn't play particularly well, neither did Driver. Packers got lucky alot....mostly because Buckhalter SUCKS!!! I thought Morency looked pretty good for the Packers. McNabb looked in great shape....best I've seen him in a long time. Eagles play calling was great....attacking Carroll was the right thing to do. The Packers secondary looked horrid. The front 4 and LBs looked good....4 sacks good. I saw alot of things I liked from the Packers and the same things I don't like. The score didn't indicate how the game was played. Eagles big plays are what killed the Packers.
All in all, the 1st half was how I expected the entire game to go. Tough, physical game. The Eagles came out in the 2nd half and busted the Packers in the face. Packers gave up. Seems to be the usual story when playing in Philly. Good job, and good luck Eagles.....especially McNabb.
Just FYI...Ahmad Carroll is no longer a Packer......GOT KICKED TO THE CURB!!! He sucks..
This is the problem with most Packer fans...Geez I don't believe you guys....Carrol got beat badly twice....but what lost the game was Farves 3 turnovers.....kick HIS azz to the curb and the team would get better (next year)...No TDs...3TOs and it's Carrols fault for losing...LMMFAO
Yeah Favre really coughed up that game....at least took them completely out of it. Then it was Ahmad "No job" Carrol who drove the final stake into the heart of their decent first half play.
What most surprised me was the d-line play of the first half of the Eagles. They were allowing Brett to stand flat footed in the pocket for long periods of time. Eventually the rookies tired and started to bend in the second half....but they did make the Eagles d-line look terrible in the first half. Is it because they are getting better, or the Eagles d-line just sucks...the jury is out on this one.
And Mcnabb threw more balls into the dirt than I have ever seen. His rcvrs were dropping balls. They were just scary sloppy in the first half.

I'm sorry, but this post reeks of not knowing what your talking about. Carroll has had this coming for a while. Last nights game was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Favres 2 turnovers hurt, but they aren't the reason we lost. One of those INTs was his fault, and it came late in the game when it was clear there would be no comeback, and the fumble was Vernand Morency not making a good pocket for Favre to hand it to him.
Carroll was a 1st round pick, and has just plain sucked. Horrible. Gets burned often....more often than not. He has a horrible attitude. He starts fights in practice...which he usually loses. He is about as smart as a bag of hammers. Refuses to learn. He's had 3 different DB coaches, and none have had even a little success getting him going. Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy have made it VERY clear players are going to be accountable for their actions....no one is above being cut. Again, Carroll hurts more than helps. Constantly draws penalties. Taunts. Costs the team points....as seen Monday. Greg Lewis had only 1 TD in his professional career, he beat Carroll twice for TDs. He gives up too many big plays. It was time to move on from Ahmad Carroll and work on building for the future.
True that...give gravedigger his props, he continues to show...but then he's not a Wisconian...maybe it's something in the cheese!
Digger you see Carrol more than I do, but i equate 2 things....more farve TOs.....fewer won games. In the old days Farve might have 3 TOs but he would have 4 or 5 TDs to go with it, now you only get the TOs
Favre Played bad, but not as badly as alot of people think. He was trying to be patient, Driver straight up dropped a TD pass, and then a first down later before the missed 54 yard field goal. The only one turnover that was really farves fault came late into the game when we were down 24-9 I think. The other two should be called morency turnovers. he reached for the handoff because e wanted to cut early, and the other he tipped the ball striaght up into the air. I cannot beliueve that fat lineman for the Eagles caught that ball though. That was pretty athletic. Im not saying FAvre is infalliable, **** that last INT was bad, thrown completely to the wrong spot, but alot of it is talent around him too. I did like what i saw from Morency though, quick cuts, good burst, Im not saying hes the answer, but thats the kind of running you like to see in the zone blocking scheme. I was also suprised by the Eagles D though... The secondary played better than they had been.
And Grave Digger is a true fan.. the man defends the Pack with his life.
digger, "good on ya" for steppin' up. i figured you would!
i don't think EITHER team acquitted themselves all that impressively in that game.
and you're right about the birds d-line. some hurries, but generally speaking a disappointing performance. that's something for your young o-line to build on. they stoned the team that was leading league in sacks: a big boost for an o-line that's taking alot of heat...

YOU get mine grave! You take the bs and thats more than commendable.
digger finally stopped sounding like a delusional pack fan after he watched a B+ Eagles football team beat his packers. that's commendable.
but let's not go building a shrine for crissake. we ALL take (and dish out) bs around here. you, too, beef.
so dig, i've got some basic questions: where do you think the pack will finish in the north? their record? and do you think aaron will see significant time? i haven't looked at the schedule...

I think the Pack will finish 2nd in the north, with probably a 7-9 record. Thats about what I have been predicting all along....I think the Queens will be bad down the stretch and the Lions are just plain old bad. The Packers have SLOWLY been getting better every week......except for the meltdown in Philly. They looked good in the first half, and in the Lions game, and in the Saints game.
They are home against the Rams (winnable), @ Miami (winnable), home against Arizona (winnable), @ Buffalo (tough, but winnable), @ Minny (hard to win in that dump, loss), home against Patiots (loss), @ Seattle (loss), home against Jets (tough but winnable), @ San Fran (winnable), home against Detoilet (already won, winnable), home against Minny (big game, winnable), @ Chicago (they will have wrapped it up and will be playing scrubs, winnable).
Thats 12 games left, and 9 of them are winnable in my opinion. I'm NOT saying they WILL win them, I'm just saying they are winnable games and they COULD win them. Not a prediction (I know that upsets Bill Swirlysky), just an observation. They could lose every game, or they could win every game. Thats what I love about this league and this team....you never really know what will happen.
Aaron won't see significant playing time, unless Favre breaks an important bone....unlikely.

Digger....looking at that schedule, I think you better go with 6-10....the Bears will be playing for home field....plus at home and beating the Packers is a wonderful thing....don't ring up that last win so quickly.

Why would da Bears need to try for home field when they are going to be 15-0....won't be many other teams going 15-1....I think they will be safe. The Bears did the same thing last year. The schedule is cake, and I don't see 7 other losses.
You got to be insane! They go 15-0 and lay down on the last game....letting those dirtbags from the 72 Dolphins to bust out the champaigne there will be a freakin riot in the stands, lynch mob and the whole damn scene.
You don't know how many Bears fan want that lost Monday night game from 85 back, easily could have been won but Ditka wanted to get Payton some consecutive game rushing record. That game could still have been won if they would have went to the air....
Now if they are 14-2 or something and have it wrapped at that time they will start the back-ups...but against the Packers...in Soldier....I THINK NOT
