Who the hell calls the o plays for minny? This guy has cost them 2 games, he should be ****-canned by monday. Apass over the middle no to's with less than 10 seconds to play= come on.
The dumbass you are talking about would be HC Brad Childress.
Their offensive coordinator is former Packers QB coach Darrell Bevell (I don't know if thats how you spell Darrell and frankly I don't care!!). Wasn't Bevell the QB when Childress was the OC at U of Wisconsin?? CRONY HIRE ALERT!! Actually Bevell is going to be a good coach....I was upset he left GB for Minnesota.
I mean, who would want to be in that dump of a stadium for a long period of time?? haha
there's already talk brewin' of childress' poor play calling. while oc at philly, reid still called the plays. joke around here is to give brad and reid nextels so reid can call our plays too. the plays have been very suspect. but they'll get it together. no one here is thinking super bowl this year. playoffs would be great, but i thinbk in the long run childress is going to be great. bevell is learning and tomlin is gonna be one of the best.
funny....when childress was in philly, people used to whine that he should be calling the plays instead of reid. if the birds had a game with good play calling, or more running than usual, the andy reid haters would credit childress.
but it was probably never "either" brad "or" andy who was calling the plays. they both had a situational flow chart in front of them that they both had a hand in writing. it was clear that in '04 and '05, childress had more of a hand in the play calling. in post-game press conferences, reid would often say, matter of factly, "brad called [this or that] .... ".
i'm not trying to say that play calling isn't important, but i often think that it's overrated in discussions of why sputtering offenses can't get their groove. play calling and execution go hand in hand. when executed well, odd play calls make coaches look like geniuses. when executed poorly, coaches look like idiots.
clearly, whatever system minny has installed for play calling isn't working, but the guys on the field aren't playing like world beaters either.
btw, any birds fan will tell you, that pass over the middle at the end had "andy reid" written all over it. we've learned to get used to that kind of call. when it works, you never hear anyone say "what was up with that call?"
dr jekyll childress turned into mr hyde this weekend against buffalo. a guy who ran the ball almost 30 times a game in the first three games ran the ball only 6 times in the first half and finished the game with @12.
i didnt have a problem with any playcalling until final minute of the bears game. the first two and a half games were decent imo.
