Unfortunately, with the moronic ownership the 49ers have it won't be soon enough. This is a big week for Nolan if he doesn't beat the Raiders this week at home possibly the worst team in the league he is in big trouble. The 49ers have got some tough games comming up. Personally I never liked the hirings of Mike Nolan and GM Mcgloughlan in the first place. Their drafting has been horrid.
The 49ers are in major rebuilding mode. They are getting better in my opinion. They very young in their skill positions and will only get better. Mike Nolan knows how to call a defense. I think they need to get the best offensive coordinator money can buy next year to take some pressure off him. They are going to give Nolan some time to get his team together, and so should you......this is what his 3rd season as HC....he needs at least 5 or 6 before you can really judge his performance. He and the GM are building this team they think it should be. My advice: be patient, calm down, be prepared for when they will be good in a few years.
WRONG!!! It's Mike Nolan's Second year as head coach and he sucks. He doesn't have the intelligence or the Vision to run a pro organization let alone turn one around.

Ok, that proves my point even more. It's his second year. Did you expect him to go to the SB last year with Tim Rattay, Kevin Barlow, and Brandon Lloyd in his 1st year as a HC?? Nolan was a rookie HC just like Alex Smith was a rookie QB. Smith struggled last year because he was a rookie and most all rookie QBs struggle. I don't follow the 49ers that closely, I'll admit, but it doesn't appear like Nolan or the GM (who really calls the shots) have made many terrible moves. Nolan called the defensive shots in Baltimore.....he knows his sh1t.
Made room for Gore to take over as starting RB and he has looked good. Michael Robinson didn't look bad when he TRUCKED All-Pro Brian Dawkins. VD's injury was not Nolan's fault. Any draft where you can come away with the best TE and the 2nd best DE/LB in the draft is a good one. Especially if Robinson turns out to be a beast.
You want the guy canned after one season? Jimmy Johnson went 1-15 in his first season with the Cowgirls and I remember people saying he should've been sh!t-canned after that year. Nolan is a solid coach and inherited a team that had a steaming pile of crap for talent after Erickson got done screwing it up.
They have a nucleus of Smith, Gore and that freak TE (forgot his name). They need a bonafide WR, and work on the defense. I'm sure they'll have a defensive draft next April. Give the guy some time for crying out loud. He's a good coach, not a miracle worker.
Dude, I am not going to sit here and waste my time thinking and writing about the 49ers. They Suck Period. Nolan will never be able to turn them around.

Ok, then don't. You said in another thread you wanted to talk about your team on a forum. No you don't?? Which is it?? Just because we don't agree with you means you have a hissy fit and so screw it?? Don't make a thread if you don't get the answer you want.
i'm not saying he's manning. but i've watched a few recent games. he's got a nice arm, can throw a diverse range of pass types at a high level. he's got good pocket vision and instincts.
once he gets a good o-line in front of him, better receivers, and gains some more experience, i think he should be a solid qb for a long time in this league.
the only thing that might queer the deal (sorry, castro residents) is if the environment around the team is so bad that it damages his confidence. but the way he's handled the early ranting by antonio bryant is pretty impressive.
Besides, MIB, Smith has only played 13 nfl games, and he's been surrounded by dreck. How many highly rated qb's do you have to watch have miserable first full seasons before you realize that it's way too early to pass judgement on them? Aikman, Elway, Peyton, Eli, McNabb...they all stunk out the place in their first 16 games. Would you have said the same thing about them?
What makes you so hot to $hitcan Nolan and Smith at this early stage, before they've had ample time to install good personell?
A head coach, in my opinion, can only do so much to help a football team win. For example, I feel that Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is really good head coach, and it's really unfortunate that the team literally got DECIMATED by the Salary Cap. And what he's left with has made life very difficult for that team. So take a look at what a coach like Fisher has had to go thru over the past few years before you jump to conclusions. (I realize that the 49ers are further along than the Titans right now in rebuilding their football team, but clearly, they're still a work in progress.)
If the team doesn't start showing some improvement soon, Mike Nolan's tenure as coach could be very brief. The NFL (and not just the Yorks) is a league without the patience it once had. Long term rebuilding projects are no longer acceptable to either the owners or the fans. A long time ago, a coach like Tom Landry could get away with not having a winning record in something like his first six seasons as head man of the Cowboys. Nowadays, you don't get half that time, and Mike Nolan and everyone else knows it. With the overall weakness of the league and free agency available to supply veteran players, there are high expectations (as unjustified as they may be) for quick fixes and "worst-to-first" fairy tale seasons. It's unfair, but anymore performances like the one last week in KC and it won't be the defensive coordinator everyone is gunning for.
how can u honestly already be calling for nolan to get fired? your f'ed in the head. hes clearly making progress with one of the youngest teams in the NFL. Alex smith, who i originaly called a bust has shown incredible improvment this year, and still has no one to throw the ball to. Give Nolan a couple years, so far he has done everything any coach could do with that roster.
