Yep, the guy who wanted a big ol' payday from the Eagles and wouldn't accept the franchise tag. The guy Indy paid a bunch of money to in hopes of improving the D. The guy the Eagles were stupid to have let go. The Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man. The list of players the Eagles have released right before their swift decline is getting bigger (Even TO hasn't been TO yet). Now if they could just shrink down that injury list and the "receivers they drafted who sucked" list.
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 5, 2006) -- Former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Corey Simon will miss the rest of the season after being placed on the non-football illness-injury list by the Indianapolis Colts. No details about the illness were disclosed.
It isn't that "Eagles let them g oright before they decline". In the new city, new sceme, new culture, the players play differently.
Free agents who leave teams like the Eagles, Patriots, and Steelers always look worse, because they are no longer playing in elite programs. (no Indy is NOT an elite program).

I see what your saying, and I agree to some extent, but he was a 1st rnd pick, he saw himself as elite, the Colts saw him as a top player(13 mill signing bonus), many observers wondered if the Eagles blew it by letting him go even blaming the poor run defense of last year on his leaving (when in reality he was not very good and run stuffing to those who watched the Eagles over the years with him).
But this, and last years ballooning of his physique is a little more than just a good player not really playing as well. He fell apart physically and now this. Not really just a decline in play, he's not old enough to be in decline yet.

That is what I meant by "new culture". They don't feel the pressure to succeed in the new town, after the check has cleared. That is why a big $$$ free-agent is always a huge risk.
Sometimes these guys stick out as a play maker with thier old teams because that team happens to be crappy and there is no other player that stands out. Not the case here but it does happen often.

Mmmm mmmmm mmmmm graphical gooeyness. Think the Colts could afford to make buy the pieces to make a S'more D-Line? Dunno who else to put next to a 370lb-mama-jamba.
