NO WAY! Every year some team might go 19-0 after 4 or 5 weeks, or 10 or 11 weeks last year; Colts. Joe Theisman claimed the Bears will go 19-0 this season. Joe Theisman must not have looked at the Bears schedule, the have a 3 game East Coast road trip, 2 of the 3 team are possible SB Contenders. The game the Bears will lose though, is the loser smacked in the middle, the Jets. I'm afraid the Bears will be so pumped up after smacking Eli Manning around, and preparing for the last great Dynasty the NFL has seen, Pats, they will get shocked by the Jets. Who cares, 18-1 isn't bad, there will be legit comparisons to '85. So the question is, will the '72 Dolphins ever have to Fed Ex a case of Champagne after the SB to some team? Can anyone go undefeated in today's NFL?
I highly doubt ANYONE can go 19-0 in today's NFL. However, I do believe dat da Bears has a legit shot of going 8-0 before they have a chance of losing. I think that the G-men is their first tough game that they have this year. For sure they're beating the Cards this week I gotta assume.
is it possible?...yeah, but not probable. The 3 game road trip will be tough to get past, they are talented enough but it takes some luck to go 19-0....bad calls, injuries, too much stuff can happen.
Looking at their schedule, November 26 at New England stands out as their toughest game at this point in the season. There is so much pressure involved once you start getting into the double digit wins without a loss that it takes as much mental composure as it does executing on the field. The undefeated talk will be everywhere if it gets that far and it becomes very difficult for a team to not start buying into their own hype I would imagine. Its up to Lovie Smith to keep these guys heads in check and not get too over confident and not fall into a trap game which I believe will be the most likely scenario. Plus the earlier they wrap up home field without any significant competition from a second or third seed is when they start talking about resting starters.
The Patriots at Gillete are not as scary to me as the Giants in NY. As we've seen, The Gmen can put up numbers in a hurry so even if the Bears are playing with a 10 point lead, there is still room for concern.
